Backslide
Well I have word bearers and ended up with 60 pox walkers and the characters from the starter... I really want to run them without named characters where possible I have 130 odd cultists painted and the endless zombie blob has an appeal does it actually work? Azekai
I have 130 odd cultists painted and the endless zombie blob has an appeal does it actually work? Yeah, it does, but not without named characters to support it. Specifically, Typhus and Necrosius from the FW index. I understand named characters leaving a bad taste in your mouth (Typhus is very efficient but I have avoided using him at all this edition). I would consider converting or using counts-as versions of the named plague lords. Then you can have the freedom to create the sort of character you want. SkimaskMohawk
You don't really need Necrosius for it. Rerolling 1s for DR isn't that great, and a Surgeon can have the same result. Azekai
You don't really need Necrosius for it. Rerolling 1s for DR isn't that great, and a Surgeon can have the same result. Plague doctors, while being a bit cheaper, are also a bit pants. Necrosius is one of the best anti-psykers in the game, in addition to how he beefs up poxwalkers. If we are talking about what to take in a zombie horde list, I would never recommend a surgeon over Necrosius... and if we are already breaking the 'no named characters' rule with Typhus, one might as well include the Undying sorcerer too. SkimaskMohawk
Oh I agree they're not that great, but the model is actually really cool, and it might be an easier pill to swallow to only take 1 special character rather than 2. On an aside, they really need to fix Necrosius and Mamon and their Keyword interactions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340853-oops-i-started-deathguard-poxwalker-horde/#findComment-4919532 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
You need Necrosius for his powers alone. He's a much better Plaguecaster with better survivability for only 10 points more. Aothaine
The real question that needs t be answered here is if you are playing competitively or not. If not, then just play what you want and have a good time. If you want to be competitive then playing Typhus and Mortarion are auto-includes. They bring too much to the table to not play them in a competitive environment.
