Hey guys!

I've been reworking my Raven Guard lists and models and I feel that I need some external input.

I am pretty happy with my 1500 list, however I have quite a lot of models left over and am in the process of creating a 2500 list to have a use for them.

This is the 2500 list as it stands at the moment:

HQ: 257

Kayvaan Shrike: 150

A librarian (93) with a force stave (14): 107

Troops: 471

10 man tactical squad (130) with a meltagun (17) and a heavy bolter (10): 157

Transports: 331

A rhino (70) with a storm bolter (2): 72

A rhino (70) with a storm bolter (2): 72

A rhino (70) with a storm bolter (2): 72

A razorback (65) with a twin lascannon (50): 115

Fast Attack: 544

10 man assault squad with jump packs: 160

3 land speeders (240) with multi-meltas (81) and assault cannons (21): 384

Elites: 250

5 man vanguard veteran squad with jump packs (90) and five sets of dual lightning claws (65): 155

5 man sternguard veteran squad (80) with special issue boltguns (15): 95

Heavy Support: 230

10 man devastator squad (130) with two lascannons (50) and two missile launchers (50): 230

Fliers: 195

A stormtalon gunship (110) with twin assault cannons (35) and a typhoon missile launcher (50): 195

What I had in mind is just simple overwhelming assault. Shrike goes in with vanguards or the assault squad, the librarian goes with the sternguard in the razorback and the tactical squads in the rhinos. Rush in and get into rapid fire and close combat range asap. Landspeeders, devastators and the gunship is fire support.

I'm not one for fancy tactics and I don't expect this to be the most cookie cutter list of all time, but I hope it should work pretty well in friendly games!

Anyway, this list adds up 2278 points, leaving 222 up for grabs.

I'm currently deciding between three options:

A five man scout squad (55) with 4 sniper rifles (16), a missile launcher (25) and 5 camo cloaks (15): 111 (x2)

or

5 man terminator assault squad (155) with five sets of dual lightning claws (65): 220

or

5 man terminator squad (130) with five storm bolters (10), four power fists (80) and one power sword (4): 224 (two points over budget)

What do you guys think would be the best choice here? Do you have any other ideas about what to spend the 222 points on (or any other ideas in general)?

Thank you in advance!

Do you have any more HQ models?

If so I would take an HQ, the Vanguard, Sternguard, and one of the Terminator squads and split them off into a Vanguard detachment for +1 CP

I would also swap out the meltaguns in your Tactical Squads for plasma guns if possible. The extremely short range on melta makes the plasma the better choice, imo.

I don't have any other HQ models that I'm particularly fond of at the moment, but I will take your advice into consideration!

As the list stands at the moment, what do you think would be best? The sniper scouts or the assault/regular terminators?

Since this is a 2500 points list you gotta keep in mind that the volume of firepower in such a game is going to be high.  10 man squads are a liability in such games, even at 2000 points.  Space Marines know fear in 8th and why make it easy for your opponent to choose targetrs?

Some easy improvements....

Cut those tac squads down to 5 man with heavy bolters and make those 3 rhinos into assault cannon razorbacks.  That is a huge upgrade in firepower for less points.

Convert those assault marines to vanguard vets and run 2 squads of 5.  The points are about the same but you get +1 attack.  Assault marines suck... and suck even harder in 10 mans.

Add a company ancient with the banner of the emperor ascendant.  With the point save you on the small tac squads you should have 63 points lying around.  Now your devs wont run if they die and get to shoot on death 2/3rds of the time.

I dont like the libby.  What is he doing in this list exactly?  I think a 90 point captain with a jump pack is much better.  He can go anywhere giving out the reroll aura.  Have him near the razorbacks or the devs.

More broadly, your list is really inf heavy so why not run a brigade?  I'd add another dev squad with that 200 ish points.

I realise now that I forgot to mention that keeping in line with the fluff is very important to me, so that means no 5 man tactical, assault or devastator squads (outside of combat squads) even though I know that is the more optimal build.

I'm currently not playing very competitively with my 1500 list, which follows the same principle, and it's doing pretty well in my circle!

The librarian is in because I needed a second HQ and I love the librarian model I have.

I understand that you may be asking why I even come here to ask what you think about my list if I am not willing to go the extra mile to be as competative as I can be, but I like to keep a decent balance between the fluff, using models that I like the look of, and the army's ability on the table!

Again, it was my fault for not clarifying my stance on the army building process, nevertheless I still value the input and thank you for taking the time to type it out!

Looks like you have some good feedback already.

You might want to switch from white text though as the mobile skin uses white as a background.

Ah yes, I wasn't thinking about that! Will fix it now.

edit: Should be able to read it on mobile now, I copied it straight from google docs so the formatting got a bit messed up!

If we can't see the list, his opponent definitely can't! :ph34r.: :tongue.:

This was definitely the plan all along... :ph34r.:

Still, the question in my mind remains: sniper scouts, assault terminators, regular terminators or anything else that fits in the 222 points left over?
