Havok13
Hi, Looking at the index for wolves, i would love to try out the following unit, but it is an awful lot of points. Has anyone used it and what size list would you use it in? StormWolf 5 Wolfguard in Terminator Armour. Arjac Njal Wolf priest in Terminator Armour The load out comes in at 1066 points! Is this too much? 7 thunder hammer hits, 9 wolf claw, 5 for arjac, 3 for Njal, 3 for WP. Rerolling failed hits and rerolling wounds of 1. You have smite and the ability to get wounds back and 3 storm bolters, 1 assault cannon and Njal and Arjac shooting attacks. Would love to try it out but wow what a point sink. jlmb_123
You should call it the Norse Conquest formation. If you have the figures, go with it. You can fit three five-man squads of Grey Hunters with a plasma gun each and three Razorbacks with Assault Cannons into a 1850 list alongside what you've already listed. Karhedron
It is a lot of eggs in one basket but it will hit like a ton of bricks. Your main problem is actually probably going to be finding something big enough for it to be worth killing. If you opponent fields a Knight or similar LoW, would should be able to kill (or at least badly cripple) it in one round of combat. But if you opponent does not have a single high value target, you could struggle. After you have dropped in and killed a unit, your Termies on foot will have to walk to their next target unless the Stormwolf manages to circle round and pick them up again. A smart opponent will back away and shoot you to pieces while you walk. Still, it looks fun to try and would be a good antidote to some of the big hitters that can dominate games. You could hit 3 targets. Terminators on 1, Arjac on another and Njal + Priest on a 3e. (or even 4th but that might be stretching to thin. You have 3"disembark + 5"move + charge so you have enough threat range. Bulwyf
That's a lot of points but if you are going up against a Knight or LoW then that is worth it. Also...just play what you find fun. Who cares if it isn't optimum or "best spec"? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340918-hard-hitting-unit-too-much/#findComment-4921465 Share on other sites
