Hey everyone, first post here and I am a relatively new player. My girlfriend wanted to join me in painting and wanted a Saint Celestine. So I picked up the Triumverate box. I figure I can fit Celistine and Greyfax into a Supreme Command detachment to gain some Psych in my army during higher point level games.

I know Cawl is Mechanicus, but I believe I saw some players say he was a "must have" for Militarum? I'm trying to figure out how he would fit in. Can anyone lead me in the right direction here?

Otherwise I'm kicking him to ebay...

First of all, welcome to the forum!

I had a quick look at the index, but unless his abilities changed with the codex I don´t see a point to use him. He buffs Mars units with rerolls, and repairs Mechanicum vehicles. Those abilities don´t benefit a AM army at all, but are part of why this guy costs 250 points. If you want a tough character to lead your armies, pick a Tank Commander instead...

Don't forget, ever since they changed the Imperial Guard to Astra Militarum and then added the Adeptus Mechanicus as an army in 40K, the acronyms got a little bit muddied, with both Guard and AdMech abbreviating to AM. Cawl is a must have for AdMech, absolutely, but you can repair Guard vehicles with Enginseers for a lot cheaper. There's absolutely no reason to take Cawl in a Guard list.

Do note that Cawl can repair any imperium model for 1 wound per turn. Which means he can do things like restore wounds to heavy weapon teams and the like. Frankly, for 250 points this isn't even close to worth it, but it at least has the potential for some entertainment.
