Had a backlog of models that arrived in the mail while I was gone (including Leviathan #2 muwahaha). I also have a friendly 2k match with my BA friend later today so I did a quick assembly with the intent of field testing them

Behold my new rapier quad mortars (launchers)!

I need to build some crew but will just toss my generic GHs there for now

Totally, nothing says friendly like double leviathan.... :biggrin.:

LOL no I did not build leviathan #2 yet and would not spring that on him

Friendly was to test my rapier quad launchers.  My friend has been using them and loves them.  I am so-so on them but will continue to field test.  I call them flying thunder hammers (they have a firing mode with S8 AP3 and D3 at 24")

I will post the batrep after I clean up from our bbq and game but spoiler alert...

Space Wolves were victorious over the Blood Angels today!

Great models Tigs who makes them? The Ork player in me is eyeing up those tracks.

I got these on ebay (fixed price no bidding). The seller is in Poland but it was worth the wait IMO

The seller also has an online option

First pass of Bjorn is complete. That symbol on his leg is freaking hard to paint cleanly. Messed up and got white into the recesses. No way I'm fixing that easily

med_gallery_49686_14551_64662.jpg

More trouble with white on this icon for his right arm. Need to touch up with black and see how it looks

med_gallery_49686_14551_238700.jpg

I'm hesitant to work on the trueclaw. My prior glowing blue work has not made me happy. Hoping I can do Bjorn justice when I tackle it

med_gallery_49686_14551_94130.jpg

I couldn't get the glowing blue type look I wanted so I went with the icy glaze look instead. Covered up the prior work with guliliman blue glaze and I'm ok with how it turned out.

med_gallery_49686_14551_53394.jpg

I also went back and replaced finger joints with mephiston red for contrast. They were previously eshin grey.

I'm happy with the final overall look

Looks great, I am a really messy painter, so I tend to do the metals first then the claw etc... You got a really nice gold there

For the blue, its a bit dark, so the camera does not pick much up. You an see where you have gone for the icy glow effect, and yo were along the right path, I wonder if it would be worth, doing an edge highlight on the claws to make the edges pop a bit more, either with a very light blue or a white?

Otherwise, great job...

I just the first basic colors (mechanicus grey armor....eshin grey on the staff....mournfang brown on the fur) but I am already struggling with Njal

Far too many tiny details and they are too close to other tiny details

I am not good at all with these

And my rune recipe is not looking good after a first pass

Bleh....not feeling good on this guy

I'm also reconsidering his left shoulder pad with a single panel being black. Tempted to make a few more of the surrounding panels black as well

Tried following this tutorial for the flesh work

I think Njal is 90% done. Just need another detail pass to clean up some messy work

med_gallery_49686_14551_176400.jpg

The camera shows too much detail...to the naked eye I think he looks ok I swear!

sml_gallery_49686_14551_176400.jpg

And since I was already working with a large palette of face/hair paint colors I knocked out some of the primed heads I had lying around at the same time. An entire force of jokaero orange!

If you do not want the hair bright orange, use skrag brown or xv 88 as a base colour.

Reikland flesh shade is a reddy brown so helps give it a ginger hint.

Njal is looking good. He is hyper detailed but I reckon you have pulled it off.

Cameras magnify everything so as long as it looks good to the eye then all is good.

Nice to see how your paint skills have developed as you have worked through your army

Keep it up :tu:

Moved on to the wolf guard bikers after Njal

The more I paint mechanicus standard grey the more I love it instead of my dawnstone

Bikes are interesting to paint with so many large panels. I slapped a first coat on the bike as well as their power armour

med_gallery_49686_14551_158278.jpg

The pack leader's thunder hammer also came in the mail yesterday. I ripped his handle bar arm off and sliced off a bolt pistol hand to make the magnetized arm.

med_gallery_49686_14551_206998.jpg

A first pass of balthsar gold detailing and the biker pack is starting to look good

I need sleep so the rest will have to wait

Leadbelcher is probably the next detail coat then we will see about eyes and weapons and shields

Are hand flamers and inferno (melta) pistols still Blood Angels exclusive weapons?

I'm not an expert on all the codex options but I think the sisters of battle have access to them as well

For us Space Wolves you have to rely on combi-weapons in 8th edition

I'm sitting here drilling and magnetizing all the combi weapon options at this very moment

sml_gallery_49686_14551_30867.jpgsml_gallery_49686_14551_78574.jpgsml_gallery_49686_14551_34885.jpg

Finally finished magnetizing 5 each of my shapeways combi weapons (plasma/storm bolter/flamer pictured above)

I also magnetized the pack leader's left arm for multiple melee options (axe/thunder hammer/claws pictured above)

Was able to resume painting the squad and did a rough pass on the storm shields and eyes plus shoulder badges.

The pictures never show it but I have leadbelcher all over as well (twin bolters...tail pipes...bike under carriage...foot pedals...handlebars etc)

Next major paint project will be the storm shields then detail on the combi-flamers

med_gallery_49686_14551_150218.jpg

I'm hoping to wrap up this squad before Saturday so I can attend a 2k point ITC tournament.

It has been too long since my army saw action.

Preparing my army for the tournament Sat and decided to build my official iron priest on a bike

Just discovered my first shapeways messed up

med_gallery_49686_13890_169060.jpg

The technomancer kit I got arrived without a key component. The attachment to put the servo arm on the backpack is missing. It has been more than 10 days so Shapeways declined to act...

Arrrrrgh

Also...those pieces are gdamn fragile and thin. I will be avoiding thin and fragile looking components in the future. Even my boarding shields are flaking if I push them against the arm too hard while krazy gluing. Picking an arm with enough clearance is limiting my option to the straight forearm pieces instead of bent arms and adding difficulty to my modeling. Decided to slice the open hand off the left arm of the 2 handed bolter bits

Anyways...always have a plan B. Going to use the missile backpack with green stuff sprocket I made ages ago instead

I had to shave the headrest off the bike seat structure to make it work but hot diggity...here is my counts as Iron Priest
