I like it. A big change I would possibly make depending on your opponent is to make the DG battalion a CSM legion instead. When you do that you can take sorcerers (DP's would be even better) with warp time and diabolic strength. Those powers can do some work for your army, especially if cast on Mortarion. I would assume you could just call your Lords Sorcerers instead (unless you want to keep one to reroll 1's aura). This would also unlock CSM stratagems for use with any of your army that qualifies.

For example: when I play DG + IW I put a unit of pox walkers in the middle surrounded by cultist blobs. I then cast the  stratagem that makes the pox walkers untargetable. I also cast on the the stratagem that bolsters their numbers for each nearby model casualty. My cultists then proceed to stand and deliver, dying the whole time spawning zombies. Then when their numbers get low I use the CSM strategem to respawn the cultist blob on a table edge (my opponents). You can use the CSM stratagem on either the IW or DG cultists!

However if you want to be only DG + your renegade detachment then feel free to ignore me lol.

Seems like you're over the 3 detachment mark for 2k.

Wouldn't it be better to just do chaos soup for some of the detachments instead of pure faction? You don't have anything that actually makes use of the faction trait for death guard

Keep in mind the 3 detachment for 2k thing is only a recommendation and in no way a rule. As long as you don't play in a tournament with that recommendation as rule it doesn't matter how many detachments you take.

Most people use it as the baseline for matched play, especially among competitive players. Considering its zombie bomb+malefic lord and tank support+mortarion, it's pretty easy to guess that he's a competitive player; ergo a reasonable expectation and criticism.

I’m not a competitive player at all this is what I own as far as models go...I’ve played imperial guard since 3rd edition so my cultists are traitor guardsmen and I have 8 leman russ variants so to even get to 2k I have to use that stuff

Main problems I can see is that you're farming command points while blocking yourself from any stratagems that can use them.

10 strong cultist units are useless as anything but speed bumps and you don't need 6 speed bumps. I'd rather have 20 cultists who can use tide of traitors and veterans of the long war once than 10 cultists who can do that twice (or not since keeping 10 alive to use ToT is not likely).

If you have more Leman Russes, use those, not Chaos Lords you don't need except for farming command points you can barely use or a Griffin Mortar which just hasn't cut it for 6 editions.

The lack of Plague Marines in those lists makes me sad :sad.: Looks good fun though with all the bodies and tanks!

I had a similar reaction.

This is not a Death Guard army, but it does look like a respectable Renegades and heretics army.
