Yeah, I went with the twin Scytals on the Flyrant.

I'm struggeling to choose which Warlord traits and Relics to go for, none of them really jump out to me as being super useful. Not that I think we have a lack of viable choices or anything, but they all seems pretty OK, so I never know which ones to go with.

As I'm a stickler for tradition, I will always have my Flyrant as my Warlord unless I'm taking my Swarmlord (Bad Larry) who will always get priority.

I know they arn't optimal choices as they are easily shot down for an easy Warlord kill, but it feels right in my head that the biggest boy should be the boss. lol.

The games went well, the first was against the Howling Griffons as I expected.

It was a narrative game and my objective was to wipe my opponent out completely by turn 4, if he had even one model left at the end of the game he wins.

He also got a free round of orbital bombardment at the start of the first round, but any of my troops got to respawn for free at the start of my turns.

Unfortunately for me, my opponent had his entire army equipped with jump packs or teleport homers, so on turn one he didn't deploy anything. My entire first turn was a bust as there were no targets for me to smite/shoot/eat.

At the end of turn 4 he had a single Terminator left hiding behind some ruins, so he won the narrative, but we kept playing for funsies and a well placed spore mine exploded the sneaky git at the start of turn 5. lol.

The second game was against a Speed Freaks list, and my dice were hot as hell.

The mission was for his Orks to escape off the board by breaking through my lines and getting withing 3" of my board edge.

Turn 1 I had blown up 2 Trukks, a Battlewagon and all of his bikers. By turn 2 his army had been entirely devoured.

I felt pretty bad about laying such a beat down, but we had a great laugh as the game went on so I don't think there were any hard feelings.

I think my next game will be against the Howling Griffon player again, but we'll be back to Matched pay rules, so no more null-deployment shenanigans. lol

What do you guys think about the relics / Warlord traits. Do you have any "go to" choices?

Were you ignoring the only 50% in reserve rule for this game? Seems a bit odd that the defender would get to do that and effectively remove 25% of the attackers turns to wipe him. Maybe replay with him as attacker, would fit a narrative better.

Either way, good work in almost getting him!

If your flyrant keeps getting shot, conduct kraken warlord traits for the -1 to be hit. Kraken on a flying model also lets you fall back, shoot and assault, so is powerful. Relic wise, I'd go for scythes of tyran+ hvc or dual Devs, or monstrous rending claws+dual Devs or miasma cannon. Miasma cannon is a nasty surprise for a tank or monster when you get within 8", or a character if you use your mobility to get close. Against a marine character that's average 4 auto hits, wounding on 2, each doing 3 damage.

We were playing Narrative rules, so the 50% > reserves rule didn't apply.

Admittedly it was a d*ck move to keep his army in reserves but he did keep playing after the game "ended" to see how long it would have taken me, so it was all in a friendly spirit.

I'm only running Leviathan Hive Fleet rules as that's my colourscheme.
