At first I questioned how many points this was .... wow. Lots of Pals! Then I saw it's sort of a game and a half.

Good luck. I often wondered who gets a bigger advantage from more points. Right now, I think it's nids just because of the ability to swamp the board with unbreakable models, which detracts from a shootier army's ability to inflict high casualties.

Then again GK is unique.... Storm bolters aren't a joke, and with PsyAmmo, less so. Yet in Close Combat they can in theory hurt anything.

It should be a good match up. Have fun.

3k is a bit too much for an evening game for us. But the nid player likes to play as high a point value as possible.

He's got like a 50k point collection.

haha... all of them do!

Some guys at the store have varying levels, but the 3 guys I know with them have... just tons of them, including forgeworld units, and I think this new codex has them wanting to try it all out. (I don't blame them, it looks like a very fun, varied codex)

He's really a collector. Been a collector for decades. We've just got him stated playing. :)

Oh he's got everything bar the bio titan. Which he dislikes as a model. Legs too spindly and it can't support its own weight!

When we went to warhammer world he picked up the big flying fw model. Harpy is it?

Loves the mini. Didn't like it on the table the one time he used it.

Wow. Watch a match.

Nid list want as powerful as i expected. Def could have been tricked out more. But it was the first match with the dex. Strats will form.

We rolled big guns, and nids failed to seize. I was equally matched in the psychic phase.

The swarmlord. Has been buffed. Mordrak hit him with 5 hammer attacks. Swarmy made all 5 3++ saves. Killed mordrak in return who used only in death and killed the swarmy as well.

He missed not having any hive guard.

Game came down to turn 5. 1 objective was contested exocrine v 2 paladin.

I held 2 objectives with 5 and 3 interceptors.

Last objective was in my dz. 10 gargoyles with two razors and a doomglaive approaching.

Ended with ndk finishing the exo. 1 objective to GK. The 3 interceptors died to biovore shots. Uncontrolled objective. The 5 interceptors killed by multiple full strength zoanthrope smites. 1 objective to nids.

All came down to last objective. Gargs dead. Controlled by GK.

1 zoanthope on 1 wound needed a 11" charge to get to razorback by objective. Which would then contest it. If sucessful nids win by 1 VP. He got first blood.

11 rolled for charge. Razor is on 4 wounds.

D3 attacks. Got 3. Rolled one 6 to hit. Wounded the zoanthrope.

Thrope failed the 3++!

Game ended there. With a narrow GK win!

Awesome match.

Our Psychics. And he didn't even bother using the troll cast that power on 1 dice strat they have.

Edit. I used to dominate the phase. Now he matches me, counters me. And has much more powerful smites.

I faced 3 x 4 zoans and a neuro. All putting out full power and more smites.

My psychics feel, neutered by comparison.

He also started stripping powers from me with psychic scream. Took sanctuary off an ndk...

He used a single hive fleet brigade.

I've pursuaded him to look at mix and matching hive fleets to empower unit roles.

Kronos hive guard / biovores / exocrines.

Gorgon swarmlord etc.

When he gets that sorted I'll be in for a harder time!

Edit. It was our CC that got me through that game. I had great luck with first turn charge rolls. Really made the difference. Interceptors did a number on his flyrant.

But he has a lot of useful strats he's not used to using yet...

Yea. I thought you’d like the multi Zoanthropes. That part kind of surprised me. It’s a very of Conclave that I actually thought would suit Grey Knights.

I have been thinking how nice it would be to have one of those invulnerable save stripping powers. Especially if other armies are going to have the ability to inherently shut down (without outside help) opponent Smite/Psychic phase then that’s going to be a big challenge.

I am liking basic body count more and more. I think this is another match up that I get to enjoy strikes and interceptors.

For sure. It's all about the nid list though.

Last match he took apart my vehicles. This time he really had no answer for them.

Nids can counter our psychics and have the ability to deal a staggering amount of mortal wounds. From spores to the buffed swarmlord and hive guards anti vehicle guns.

And that's before zoan/neurothrope spam.

And when he's mixing hive fleets, he'll be using multiple neuros as hqs for fleet specific synapse.
