Looking for help building my collection.

Hello there!

 

I used to play 40K way back in 3rd edition, sold my stuff, starting again in 8th.

 

I picked the Space Marines and am looking for help selecting what to get/buy etc.

Any input on weapon loadouts is appreciated.

 

So far I have:

 

2 Tactical Marines

1 Venerable Dread

1 Captain in Terminator Armor

1 Devastator Squad

1 Hellblaster Squad

I'm in a similar situation as you and so can't advise on what is good or not per say but I can ask what are your goals. Are you wanting to enter tournaments or looking for more friendly games. Do you want to start a specific chapter as that might influence loadouts. Likewise do you have a favoured style of play, gunline, close combat or a mixture?

A good rule is to collect the models you like the look of. Metas change so what might be good in one area might be less effective in others.

I suggest you just start painting and playing small games. As you get some experience (and you start running out of models to paint) you can buy a box of whatever you think looks fun or your army might need. After some time you might be inspired to develop a particular kind of army, which you can then set as your collecting goal.

 

Are your devastators/tacticals built/armed yet?

No they are not, but I was thinking of making them dedicated AT: 3 lascannons 1 launcher.
