dude163
List building Q : Im running sisters of battle which have the imperium keyword, can I mix and match ANY imperium unit in extra detatchments? IE add a Black templar character, some GK, some custodes? Ok reason is: I was playing pure sisters in an escalation CG and at 800 points im literally running out of minis to use ! ( cant use FW or celestine/named characters til we hit 1250) so right now Im running canoness, 2 imagifiers, 3 x 5 sisters squads with 2 storm bolters each, 2 dominions with 4 meltas each , 2 rhinos with 2X Storms and 5 seraphim with 4 inferno pistols My plan is to ally in some GK for assault help and anti psyker usage ( and smite spam of my own!) and a mun priest to give the close sisters and canoness +1 A , Im also switching 1 sisters squad to celestians as a bodyguard . I also want to add in some other imperials, like a librarian perhaps and an assassin or 2 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341421-list-building-q-imperium-options/ Share on other sites
Servant of Dante
Yes, an Imperium army can have whatever you want in it as long as it has the Imperium keyword. If you’re bringing stuff that gets chapter tactics or regimental bonuses, those things generally require they be in their own detachment. Drider
You can mix and match as you please under the banner of <Imperium> but bare in mind that if you want access to chapter tactics or stratagems you would have to run pure detachments, such as a detachment of pure Black Templars or pure Grey Knights. With Sisters only being an index army there's no down side with going soup for the sisters or custards point of view, on the flip side of a mixed detachment is a handicap for BT and GK. Dr_Ruminahui
To be battleforged, your army simply needs to share 1 keyword. Here, your whole army has the IMPERIUM keyword, so you are good. Do note that mixing imperial factions in a detachment may result in unit not being able to benefit from some faction special rules. For example, if you took Astartes Millitarum (aka imperial guard) units and grey knights in the same detachment, the AM units would not be able to benefit from any <REGIMENT> special rules, as that requires a "pure" detachment only containing units of that <REGIMENT> (plus some specific, listed exceptions). Don't know if the Grey Knights codex works the same way (haven't read it), but it is something to watch out for. Or, as the 2 posters above stated - I guess I didn't type quickly enough. :) Edited November 16, 2017 by Dr_Ruminahui Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341421-list-building-q-imperium-options/#findComment-4933483 Share on other sites
dude163
Ok great so I could run a small detatchment of my GKs for assault help, or add in repentia I guess I should make alist of exactly what I have so you guys can help me out, im a bit out of depth running the SOB as Im used to hyper agile harlequins having lots of storm bolters and melta is quite intoxicating however :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341421-list-building-q-imperium-options/#findComment-4933489 Share on other sites
Servant of Dante
Well, enjoy it (and get used to it), since Sisters (with the exceptions of a bit of plasma here and there and the Exorcist) adhere to the Holy Trinity of volt, flame and melta:P apparently crossbow bolts count too . . . BaronTuman
So I can include an assassin into a Sisters army without an Inquisitor? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341421-list-building-q-imperium-options/#findComment-4936627 Share on other sites

CrusherJoe
Sisters -- especially of the heavy flamer Rets and/or Flamer Doms or Melta Doms, all riding in Repressors -- pair well with Guard. I've been doing it for a bit with some good success. Guard bring masses of bodies and long-range shooting to the mix, which is something Sisters don't have.
