jeffersonian000
And it could just be a nod to Starship Troopers, where Mobile Infantry was primarily Male while the Navy was almost all Female. Claws and Effect
As normal humans are concerned, females have been proven to generally have quicker reflexes and higher tolerance for g forces. They may not have the same brute strength as their male counterparts, but unless you're wielding a heavy weapon or engaging in hand to hand combat, there are few roles women couldn't fulfill as we or better than men. Starship captain or pilot? Zero reason why a woman couldn't do those jobs. And since most Astartes Chapter Masters are pretty practical, I'm sure they would have a woman do a job that frees up a man to do something he is more physically suited for (like bashing in heretic skulls with a power maul). First part isn't quite true and is a touchy subject so you should be careful when saying "proven", especially when different experiments give different results depending on task, some tests show men are faster, some show women. As for g forces, in recent US and British military testing (the last testing batch was last month), women compared just as well as men, but only with the help of g suits. Data is patchy so to say "proven" again is pushing it, either way. Starship captains and pilots and anything else requiring a brain and skill, most definately, as you said Astartes command arn't stupid and would pull in whoever was capable. Volt
Piloting is actually the best role for women in combat of any sort physically. Due to their lower body mass, women can typically pull more gees than men, allowing them to engage in even more absurd combat maneuvers if artificial gravity is in play.
