Guest
Not a fan. That fur looks like worms, and something just seems off with their heads. Deadnaughty
Yeah, second the terrible looking fur. There is way better 3e party out there. Dantay VI
Heads look a shade too big. Hoping they come separate from the body. Praetor head is a mirrir image of the left mosy varagyr, but with the braid moved about. They look tons better now painted. The centre on looks bad-ass and the rear right is screaming out to be kitted with wolf claws Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341698-space-wolves-sighted-at-open-day/#findComment-4940760 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Varagyr heads are NOT sculpted to the torso's. Thanks God, I can put helmets on them :D Arms are one piece but hands swap-able. Torso/legs are one piece Petitioner's City and Quixus 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341698-space-wolves-sighted-at-open-day/#findComment-4940802 Share on other sites
Leif Bearclaw
Nope, really still not a fan. Even painted they look both 'too 40k' and really crude (fur and faces especially). The 'not topknots' are still really weird looking and unnecessarily 'busy up' a model that already has plenty of hair/fur textures on it in the first place. That Praetor just reeks of lazy CAD asset flip, a rejected Varangyr they stuck the Frost Blade from the 40k upgrade sprue on. I remain sadly underwhelmed with FW's continuing treatment of the Wolves. Certainly not worth the wait . Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341698-space-wolves-sighted-at-open-day/#findComment-4940805 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
While not the best, there is potential for conversion. With heads separate, we can put helmets or other heads in, the plumes I am hoping are detachable. I have decided that the fur can be dremelled and redone with green stuff..... Runefyre
Gotta say they all look workable, I'm very disappointed by the praetor's head...just awful. Could be just the painting style. But overall seeing them painted has somewhat boosted my opinion of them. Dantay VI
With luck the Praetor head will be a separate piece along with the Varagyrs. Thinking an arm swap for the praetor and give him the centre Varagyrs head and BAMF praetor right there Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341698-space-wolves-sighted-at-open-day/#findComment-4940812 Share on other sites

Thing is though, where do you get spare Cataphracti heads? Frankly, I expect more from a premium FW product than 'potential for conversion'. If they require that level of work, why not just use a vanilla Cataphracti instead (better head, better ammo feed on the gun, only needs green stuff rather than GS plus dremelling, cheaper base price)? hammer grimblood
I'm not a fan of the fur or those plumes. I look forward to seeing the sprues and eventually getting my hands on them though. I like the knotwork on the greaves and axes as well as the beards and hair which is a nice change to physical topknots. mercbat
Excellent legs sculpt (except fur), ugly posing. Ugly whole upper part. Great dissonance between thin and crisp lower knotwork, and "warcafty" upper. Heads look extremely misscaled. Especially rear right termie. Good point - if I want Varagyr pack in my army (and I want) my conversion skills have no chance not to be improved. ;) Edit: After looking at pics on big screen I admit that torsos and shoulder pads are not ugly, they are quite good but just don't fit together. Marshal Loss
Very disappointed in this. Never been a wolf fan but after all the badass artwork in Inferno and Russ' brilliant model, I was excited for a stunning model range. They dropped the ball here. If the heads and arms and shoulders were separate, it might be okay, but with the beards flowing over the armour like that, I'd bet that the heads are definitely not separate, and the shoulders are probably attached to the arms like the Tyrant Siege. Kasper_Hawser
Sigh, much as i hate to admit it, those are some ugly FW models. And that's before I compare them with other terminator elite like the Firedrakes, Justaerin, Deathshroud and Sekhmet Cabal. Although if you take away those silly horse hair plumes (do they even have horses on Fenris? Probably the giant elk), they won't look TOO bad. Suddenly, using regular cataphracti with the roman motif doesn't seem so bad if I want to create some Vargyr. Hfran Morkai
Please don't mess up the Grey Slayers and Deathsworn FW, I've been waiting for those releases before building anything as I want to see what I can get out of them (I'll probably be using primarily plastic Heresy stuff with bits sprinkled here and there as I've been doing with the Wolf Pack). Please FW, do us proud. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341698-space-wolves-sighted-at-open-day/#findComment-4942537 Share on other sites
Yoyo ninja
Nope, not for me. They look lazy, like they couldn't be bothered. They started out promising with the power armour bodies, they are awesome, then the contemptor was a bit meh, now these. Not impressed at all.
