Hey guys and gals!

I've been looking at something to build and paint as an alternative to my Space Wolves especially because I don't really plan to play them (never played the tabletop tbh). So when looking for alternatives and maybe something to actually play as well I stumbled upon the Battleforce box that is now available. My problem is that I do not know anything about the T'au other then that thay have some really sweet models from GW and FW.

So my question is is this Battleforce box a solid start to get into the tabletop aspect of the game as well?

Hope you can help me out!

Imo the best start for the tabletop part is a Start Collecting box, a Pathfinder box (ideally the one with a Devilfish included in case you want to play Breacher) and a Commander, but the Rapid Insertion Force is a very good start as well!

If you want to know how to paint T'au true to their fluff (Sept and Rank markings mainly and the difference between Sept and and armor color) just let me know. It's not the first time I write such a post for a new T'au player. If not, that's fine as well. They're your models after all. :D

That would be a tremendous help in regards to the markings and the sept, since (as mentioned) I have absolutely no knowledge about T'au what so ever :biggrin.:

I'm thinking for the colour scheme Red body, black leg parts and the head pieces maybe some turquoise bluish colour. I am not a huge fan of the white nor the burnished orange but I am open for suggestions.

When looking at that Battleforce set what do you as an experienced player see that is either missing or a must have for a complete noob?

I actually just preordered the Tau battle force myself; haven’t really played tau for a few editions now, but I’m looking forward to seeing what their codex has in store for them.

GW community is coming out with articles this week on how to use and add to the battle forces - orks were today’s. I recommend checking that out in addition to listening to the old vets here on the forums .

I’m planning on getting a start collecting box and a pathfinder team as well; I think that’s a pretty good start.

Yeah I've been looking at those as well but can not find any that have the devilfish included, otherwise but regardless to that the Start Collecting boxes are always good deals.

I'm keeping a steady eye on the Warhammer announcements on Facebook so as to see what they recommend :)

It's called Optimised Pathfinder Team. I think it was only a limited time avaiable from GW directly but you might get lucky and find a box in a GW shop or so.
