Like the title says, is an wolfguard terminator army still playable in this edition?

Havent played with my space wolves for a while but planning to start playing again in january.

I have a big army with 6 landraiders (Godhammer, Achilles, and 4 Crusaders) and about 40 wolfguard terminators. I liked to play games with them, but are they still good?

I also got 5 x 10 grey hunters, and razorbacks, rhinos and 25 long fangs, and some vindicators, so it's not that I only can play with the terminators. :-)

Terminators don't do particularly well on the cost/benefit analysis front. The main problem is that there are too many D2 weapons out there that negate the advantage of their 2 wounds (plasma and dark reapers are probably the biggest threats).

Having said that, Space Wolves can take regular power weapons meaning that we can field Termies a lot more cheaply than most other chapters if you are will to forgo their iconic (but expensive) power fists. A squad with 4 storm bolters, 1 assault cannon and 5 power swords/axes is actually pretty cheap and can dish out a lot of firepower on the drop.

Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield Termies are still boss for killing large targets but definitely need a LR (preferably a Crusader) to deliver them. They work best with a Wolf Priest and Arjac to lead them.

I'm not sure they would be massively competitive but they would probably be fun to play.

I miss the Loganwing.  Nothing like having Terminators count as Troops, you know? :smile.:

That's another issue with terminators, they can't have Objective Secured. This makes an all terminator army rather terrible at playing to objectives, and they don't really have the volume of firepower/melee attacks to simply wipe an opponent (unless they're equally elite, but I'll be honest I haven't seen very many elite armies at my FLGS lately).
