spideygut
I recently purchased some forge world Icons for my Dark Angles. But have no idea how to get them off the huge chunk of resin they come on. Ive tried cutting away one icon so and filling it down but butchered it. Anyone have experience or ideas how to remove such things from their resin prison? sockwithaticket
Be very, very, very gentle and slow while cutting the icon out with a very sharp blade or gently saw with a hobby knife sized saw. Also, don't try and cut it out entirely, just an outline, because you're going to need to file/sand down the back of the icon to get rid of the excess resin and have a usable piece. spideygut 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341917-help-with-forge-world-icons/#findComment-4948629 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
I agree; cut generously around the icon, then sand it down (use wet'n'dry sandpaper and do it underwater in a flat-bottomed box/bowl or such - it prevents the creation of dangerous airborne resin dust, and is also much more gentle on the parts you're sanding), then trim the remaining flash to the edge of the icon (the backing resin will be almost falling off it's so thin at this point, so there is little risk of damaging the icon). The real key is lots of patience I'm afraid! spideygut 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/341917-help-with-forge-world-icons/#findComment-4948737 Share on other sites
