Loyalist
I've reviewed a dozen or so GK Army Lists but saw no Brotherhood or Paladin Ancients in them. I assembled 2 when they were options for Paladin squads in the previous codex but they seem overpriced now for what you get from them. Is anyone using them? I'll probably keep one to paint and display with the army but convert the other to a regular Paladin. jeffersonian000
They are currently too situational and very overpriced. Gentlemanloser
You're better off with a hammer apothecary. Helycon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342031-brotherhoodpaladin-ancients/#findComment-4952433 Share on other sites
Danarc
I used a brotherhood ancient once. It worked well with 10 pagk squad and 2x5 purifiers squads. It was a friendly game and I wanted trying some different stuff. Purifiers didn’t pass the exam. They were only overpriced pagk and their smite was useless because with falchions and ancient 30 attacks was enough to kill everything. The ancient satisfied me instead, increasing from 20 to 30 the attacks of each 10 men squad making them unstoppable killer. In particular the third hammer attack is a great thing. But I have to agree that it is very situational and, mostly, overpriced. But with a 20 point discount it could be a good choiche for pagk spam lists. Loyalist
Thanks for the replies. The Paladin Ancient is 12 pts. more expensive than the Brotherhood version, but I haven't seen any rule that you have to use the Paladin Ancient to support Paladin Squads. I wouldn't use the Brotherhood Ancient other than with 10-man squads, as Danarc did. I'd already concluded that Purifiers weren't worth the extra 7 points per figure compared to other pagk, but will probably paint a 5-man squad to go with Crowe in a razorback. Based on the feedback received my second Ancient has been converted to a normal Paladin.
