Blood Angels as other chapters?

I am considering starting BA in a dark red scheme, and leaving out overt iconography for everything other than the BA-only units. It would then be less jarring to use the vanilla squads, tanks, primaris stuff etc as a custom Codex SM chapter from time to time. As in, using a clearly BA bright red army with BA heraldry everywhere as, say, a Salamanders or Ultramarines successor would just be a no-go and completely out of the question, whereas using dark red marines without heraldry as the bulk of a BA force seems like it would be fine. Does anyone else do this? I understand it may be heresy to purists but would anyone have a problem with it?

As long as you are clear on the tabletop what faction is what models then it's fine!

I use very cannon painted blood angels as "Blood Dragons"(salamanders) all the time. Creative fuff can cover most any sin of color association. As long as your opponents have clear visual reference as to what is what you should be fine

Blood Angels don't have a monopoly on red colour schemes, so go for it!

Agree with those fellas above me. Keep things fair and clear to your opponent and try to have maximum fun with your models.
