How to equip DG Predators

Greetings fellow heretics!

 

For several weeks i´m thinking about the problem how to equip DG Predators best?

 

Option 1:

Predator

Auto Cannon

2 HB

A good infantry killer and quite cheap. But i don´t know if i need more fire anti infantry firepower. And i don´t know if the armament will be any good against tanks.

 

Option 2:

Predator

Auto Cannon

2 Las Cannons

The two Las Cannons make this option expensive. What do you think about the AC/LC mix?

 

Option 3:

Predator

twin Las Cannon

2 Las Cannons

Very expensive and very specialized. But a lot of long range anti tank firepower.

 

What worked best for you? What are your experiences with Predators in 8th Ed?

First will state that I havrle no experience with deathguard predator.

That said, I would consider ped. auto cannon + las x3 so I can use the kill shot strat. You should always build your list with stratgem in mind!

That and share more of the list you have in mind, a good predator load out in vacuum may be a bad fit for your list!

I typically run:

 

Lascanoon Pred with Havoc Launcher 

 

and

 

Autocannon, Heavy Bolters and Havoc Launcher Pred.

 

Both are invaluable and you cant go wrong with either. The Las pred can and will generally destroy a land raider in one shot. The autocannon is good for shooting at multi wound models and tanks. The havoc launcher I have found to be useful in putting on a wound or two on tanks or goes well with targeting infantry.

My predator is somewhat of an odd layout. Autocannon and las, with added havoc launcher and components. If I were more competitive i'd drop the extra weapons but the autocannon often does more work than the 2 las do for me.

The Stratagem is the main reason why i wanna have 3 Predators. I´ve different options how to run my DG. Typhus with 60 Poxwalkers and a hard core of 2 squads Blightlords and 1 squad Deathshrouds or replacing the Poxwalkers with 3 squads Plague Marines. Both list should be around 2500 points.

 

Typhus

Plaguecaster

 

3x 20 Poxwalker

 

5 Blightlords: 3 Combi-Melta, 1 Flail, 1 Blight Launcher

5 Blightlords: 3 Combi-Plasma, 1 Flail, 1 Reaper Autocannon

3 Deathshrouds

Plague Surgeon with Helmet

 

or 

 

Typhus

Plaguecaster

 

7 PM: 3 Plasma guns,

7 PM: Plasma Pistol, 2 Melta

7 PM: Fist/Sword, 2 Flails, 4 Axes/Knifes

 

5 Blightlords: 3 Combi-Melta, 1 Flail, 1 Blight Launcher

5 Blightlords: 3 Combi-Plasma, 1 Flail, 1 Reaper Autocannon

3 Deathshrouds

 

The rest will be filled up with three Predators or three Crawlers and some drones.

I´m not sure if the loadout of the squads will give me enough anti tank firepower specially facing AM with 6 Leman Russ.

I think if you take a Predator, they should be loaded up with all lascannons. I'd probably be more inclined to take plagueburst crawlers though.
