Kisada
I know this is more of a hobby topic but since breacher shields are a 30k thing I figured I may get the best answers here. I bought some breacher shields from Pop Goes the Monkey on shapeways and was wondering how I should go about removing/smoothing out the print lines. Bonus points for end result pics. Brother Pheidias
Do you have pictures of the lines in question? Kisada
It’s kind of hard to get a picture that really shows it without painting. It’s the print line ridges that come with 3D printing. I figured some people would have purchased these shields before. I hear shapeways is going to have a booth at LVO. If so I hope to get some support from them if I can’t find any info before then Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342100-how-to-smooth-out-print-lines-on-shapeways-breacher-shields/#findComment-4955755 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
Can you describe the material to me? Specifically what it looks like from the unpolished angle. ephrael
You’ll get good results sanding the Shields with a fine emery board. You can get excellent ones in the beauty department of any store that sells makeup. I use a double sided one that’s white and peach colored. They cost about $1. Brother Styphus
I clean the shields first with Goo Gone and a toothbrush, followed by a soapy scrubbing. For the large open sections, I have 2,000 grit sandpaper. I don't fret too much about getting every bit smooth, because the ridges are so subtle in places that the spray primer is just thick enough to hide them.
