Rogue Crusader
The LR Crusader is our workhorse but has anyone used the Chapter Approved rules to change their LR weapon options? If so what changes did you make and how has it performed? I like the punch of the hurricane bolters on the standard LRC but always felt I wanted lascannons for some range and anti armor. Now I can mix the two in friendly games. I haven't played it yet but the idea intrigues me. Brother Christopher
I haven't used it since I don't see the point, really. The options are too restricted and essentially boil down to reducing transport capacity for more weapons that, in my opinion, defeats the purpose of a Land Raider in the first place. I would love to see an option to use a LR without sponsons (only the hull mounted gun) and 20 transport capacity. On principle, it seems that a LR with more guns is just a more appealing way of potentially throwing away 30 power level points for a unit which has limited transport capacity and, admittedly, shooting worth of 2-4 other units, but may be easily denied by an enemy who locks it in close combat. Having said that, an variant with hurricane bolters, hull-mounted lascannon and 11 transport capacity seems fun! DarkCrusader93
I've given it a go and placed secondary heavy flamers on mine so it's got the standard LRC load out without the side doors and flamers in its place its good packs some real punch when you get close enough to charge with the units inside the reduced TC is a bit rubbish though only done it once in a 200pp game don't think it's worth it in smaller games.
