CornishMike
So... Tongue in cheek, not expecting anything, I posted on the GW 40K official FB page, asking when the TSons codex might drop (I kindly indicated I would be happy with which quarter)... I got the below... Now, I totally get that this could just be a holding statement they give everyone, but the "shouldn't be too long" coupled with my "quarter will do" request, makes me think it might drop in the next quarter... https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1939156756404954&id=1575682476085719&comment_id=1939219943065302¬if_id=1513165545848879¬if_t=feed_comment Jan-March is my new endzone of dreams... For those not wanting to look on FB for the post... My post - Morning GW... Just curious if there's any approx timescale for Thousand Sons codex? Just a month or quarter would do GW Response - Warhammer 40,000 Hey Michael - we can't reveal anything unannounced but it shouldn't be too long now :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342288-salty-codex-information/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You asked for a month or quarter estimate and they gave the response of "soon", I think you're reading too much into their answer unfortunately. It's just a stock answer and means very little I'm afraid especially given their plans for codex updates. All codices are coming "soon" after all Archaeinox 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342288-salty-codex-information/#findComment-4958671 Share on other sites

Sonoftherubric21
Its between January and July. that is literally the only timescale we have for sure. Given GW's current pace (which is fantastic btw at 2 per month) its safe to assume between now and july were getting our book. which will mark the 1 year of 8th release. *sigh* I also asked and got a similar answer, just the ominous "soon" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342288-salty-codex-information/#findComment-4958966 Share on other sites

Bulwyf
GW said before I think all codexes would be out by June or July 2018. I'm already dreading my SW codex being the last one out. If nothing else you only have a 6 to 7 month wait as a TS player. Skerr
Probably couple with wolves. Classic rivaly or same-o, same-o? Kinda feels same-o lest we get a campaign tie in or Russ returns, Maggie taking another swipe at Brother G or another primarh possibly. Archaeinox
They told me "very very soon" multiple times and that was before Codex: Space Marines dropped........................ You are free to apply salt and hope, but personally I won't even let the dump trucks leave the parking lot to go get the salt. Sonoftherubric21
Isnt it less "hope" and more a "waiting game" at this point? besides id rather get our codex AFTER the psyker-nerf (well...smite nerf) coming in march? I believe it was? The thing I am probably most interested in is seeing our chapter tactic, and relics. We can all logically guess at most of the strategems we will get, and that will almost assuredly be correct. Given the Death Guard and Chaos dex trends. The chapter tactic however.....what will it do? thats my big question, along with Aura abilities being a good question since both chaos and death guard have a decent amount. Zodd1888
I feel like we may see a fewer amount of unique models in exchange for many more auras possibly? It would be interesting. Sonoftherubric21
I feel like we may see a fewer amount of unique models in exchange for many more auras possibly? It would be interesting. I think it will possibly be a "pick your aura" kinda deal, Pick a sorcerer, declare the sorcerers aura = aura given to that sorcerer. That is 100% a guess on my part, but its fluff accurate as each sorcerer has a specialization from prospero. It would be childishly simple to do that, and the death guard got 5 auras as well...... 5 elite slot auras + the HQ auras. I think that either ours will be locked to Hq's, or they will give us an "elite" sorcerer slot and give them aura options as I cant imagine 1 HQ sorcerer having 2-3 auras (tad OP) This is again 100% conjecture on my part but if you look at the Death Guard book and all its auras its a very tiny step to working on our cults and the concept is literally identical. If we *dont* get something at least akin to it ill be shocked. (I wouldn't expect full fluff accuracy, but I do think our characters will get something akin to the death guard lists) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342288-salty-codex-information/#findComment-4959363 Share on other sites
Skerr
I know we have touched on this (filling out dex with various bonus based on cults etc...) at various points in our threads though bringing it up. I don't know much about the below though might we some variation based on these? Jivanmukta
While unlikely, it would be possible to get more different types of Rubricae. The Ammitara Occult and Khenentai Occult existed (and as far as I know may still) and would add variety. In addition characters like Ignis (with Credence) and Ctesias are still alive (the former is in the most recent Thousand Sons audio drama). There are plenty of places to go, if Tzeentch wills it. General Strike
I doubt we will get new models with the codex, just cause I think they will be focused on the next BIG release. Maybe when all codexes are out and they've released the next two primarchs. While it would be easy to release weapon packs to upgrade into new units, its not very gw. Archaeinox
I think we can get an idea of some upcoming options from this. Don't worry too much about the smite issues. It is quite clear that we are getting new powers. The comment regarding the wish for Firestorm to cause wounds on 5+ is interesting. Paladin777
Making firestorm wound on 5+’s would make it Much more palatable, but still at 7WC I think it Would be barely making par. Sonoftherubric21
Id use it all the time if it worked on a 5+. Your talking about being able to statistically nail a 4 wound character every other turn, that + infernal gaze is a really good chance to kill off a hidden character. (I am assuming 4 wounds and no FNP mechanic) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342288-salty-codex-information/#findComment-4961485 Share on other sites
Jorin Helm-splitter
Would be nice if they announced the next 2 or 3 They have been really good about that so far, I think they will in the next week or two. It seems like they wait just until they're are about to preview the last of the announced books and drop some info. GW said before I think all codexes would be out by June or July 2018. I'm already dreading my SW codex being the last one out. If nothing else you only have a 6 to 7 month wait as a TS player. Yeah wolves are probably last, they updated a ton of units in CA which doesn't bode well for a quick release. That and our troops have always been different so possibly a new primaris unit with that book. I doubt we will get new models with the codex, just cause I think they will be focused on the next BIG release. Maybe when all codexes are out and they've released the next two primarchs. While it would be easy to release weapon packs to upgrade into new units, its not very gw. It wouldn't surprise me if they find a way too make multiple characters out of the exalted sorcerer kit. Maybe have the weapon signify a rank with a corresponding ability. There also is the Arhiman 30k model from prospero burns that they could release as a clampack. Raven1
I see the exalted kit being multiple unit entries too, i did never understand went they took away the exalted sorcerer with jump pack since it was an option in the last codex and the bit is in the box. Jorin Helm-splitter
@Raven1 - that's a really good point of the jump pack. It'd be really easy to have one unit entry for sorcerers on a disc, on foot, and with a jump pack and give each a different aura/ability. edit: I'd really like that distinction because the kit would still be really flexible and I wouldn't have to worry about what weapons I have modelled.
