Hello you friendly peoples! I am new to 30k and have finished creating my first army list, 1500pts of Iron Warriors. It seems to be decent, and I will be using it this Saturday in my first ever game. I have no idea what I'll be facing, but any suggestions are welcome. I just purchased a Medusa, and I own a Centurion with Early Crusade Honors. Right of War is Pride of the Legion. According to Battlescribe, this equals 1497pts.

Yeah, you'll definitely need some transports! At the moment your list will struggle against most armies because your infantry is pretty vulnerable/static without transports, you've spent a lot of points on HQs and haven't given them transports (how is the Praetor supposed to get in to combat?), and you lack ranged anti-tank firepower.

To get the most out of the Master of Signals and the Siege Breaker they need to join units that will benefit from their skills (+1BS from the MoS and Tank Hunter from the SB). At the moment neither of these characters really has a role to play in this army.

The Praetor is going to really struggle and should be pretty easy for your opponent to deal with. The Praetor is a close combat character, but you haven't given him a way of getting into combat (transport) and he doesn't have a unit that will be able to assist/protect him once he gets there (the 3 man Command Squad won't make it). Getting into combat is made even more difficult because he can't run in his Cataphractii armour (so the best he can hope to move is 6 inches a turn). If he does get into combat he will struggle to beat even lowly tactical sergeants because of his AP3 lightning claw. He really needs some AP2 for close combat. Also, he can't take Meltabombs if he is wearing Terminator Armour.

It's difficult to offer list advice for 1.5 points if those are the only minis you have. Are you looking to expand the army to 2-3k points? It would be easier to suggest what to buy next to expand on what you have at the moment.

Thanks Kizz. I do plan on expanding to 2k+. However, I plan on mostly using infantry marching up the field with artillery covering them. My plan for purchases are betrayal at calth, burning of prospero, 2 more basilisks, probably 2 more medusas (to use if I don't want to field basilisks), and some transports for the specialist squads. I plan on ending up with The hqs I own, adding a chaplain, a 2nd cataphractii praetor (with Thunder Hammer instead of lightning claw), and a Delegatus. My troops will soon become a 10 man Support squad with Plasma guns, a Breacher squad with 2 melta guns, and 2 Tactical Squads. A contemptor Dread as is from B@C, 2 Terminator Squads (1 cataphractii, 1 tartaros. Cats with lightning claws. Tarts with Chainfists), 1 Vet Tac squad with 2 missile launchers. 1 Seeker squad, sergeant with lightning claw. and Iron havoc squad with 10 heavy bolters. Most of the army would stay towards the back while the Artillery fire, moving up to allow nuncio voxs to keep line of sight for the barrage weapons

Please note: This is a first ever 30k list. 30k is different even from 7th ed 40k. I'm still learning and I'm mostly in it for fun and fluff reasons.

Sounds good, mate! Those additions will definitely make the list more viable, just be aware that dismounted infantry is very vulnerable in games of 30k and transports are essential for assault based squads such as the Terminators. Also, make sure that you have enough mobility to capture objectives, and even with the new additions you'll still really struggle against armoured lists (the Medusas will be your only ranged ati-tank above strength 8).

Just got back from the game. Was creamed. Apparently, facing magnus is not easy and he popped my basilisk turn 1 with a psychic power. I was tabled by turn 4. I did however destroy his Scorpius and contemptor. I did well enough, but was easily defeated by a primarch. The guy wanted to play 2500, and so I had to add talons of the emperor.

I agree, but my 5 Custodes kept him, ahriman, and 5 termies locked in combat until turn 4, while enfeebled, while magnus had iron arm and warp speed on, so I think I did alright. Shame my Basilisk was gibbed turn one by life leech before it could do anything.
