chapter master 454
kind of needing some bits boxes as of late. Not only for loose bits but for the future I intend to magnetise units and thus need a good box for carrying the options the units will have. So kind of looking for any suggestions for which boxes may work best. The Yncarne
I’ve used screw boxes in the past. However that didn’t scale for me. Now I used plastic sandwich bags based on the bit type - for example, space marine arms, tau plasma rifles, chaos shoulder pads etc. these bags then get placed in a faction box for easy identification. This approach let’s me then pitch the sprues and save space. chapter master 454
main use is currently got some wraithguard/blades who I am magnetising and so need a decent box that could keep parts separate and organised so i can chose which arms I need and when (fully magnetising so arms, guns, swords and axes). It is also nice to get recommendations for decent bits boxes in general as I do have a lot of spare bits currently lying around from my marines as well. More of a fan of hard boxes rather soft though. Deafbok
Fishing tackle boxes. They've got well-sized compartments. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342369-recommendations-for-a-good-bits-box/#findComment-4960643 Share on other sites
MadGreek
I use a simple plastic divided box that you can pick up at most craft stores. I actually got mine from the Container Store. Has extra dividers so I can customize size of the spaces. DuskRaider
I have about 4 arts and crafts containers with various bins in them for my bits. One for each army, then separated by type (head, arm, body, etc.). They store and travel well too btw MadGreek... Xenith
Magnetised bits go in the figure case with the models. I have a mix of screw/tool storage boxes and plastic bags with similar bits in them. gitface
I imagine something like this would do. [edit:] Just had a further look and found these ones that have more compartments. Also you are a vile temptress these were not on my radar, but I might pick up a couple as they would be handy. Kurgan the Lurker
Fishing tackle boxes. They've got well-sized compartments. I use tackle boxes as well. Large ones from Cabela's. Scott-S6
I always use this range (there are various sizes). https://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-fatmax-deep-pro-organiser/22910?tc=EA2&ds_rl=1249796&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1249484&gclid=CjwKCAiApdPRBRAdEiwA84bo34j_ImCZOoSMsD9kRL1EEb_pvW08yUHapsUJbULQU391LhjokchbEhoCd2oQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CPixid7EkNgCFctmGwodUnwA9A They are a bit more expensive than a tray with dividers or a tacklebox but being able to lift a section out as a tub makes it so much easier to work with your bits and go through bits of a type. You can also pour out a section in order to sort through it which is basically impossible with a divided tray or tacklebox. You also don't have the problem of bits migrating between sections that the other types have either. Worth every penny, you won't look back. Subtle Discord
Yep, go to a local dollar store (or similar type of shop) and get some storage containers from the tools section. They're low cost, most have adjustable compartments, many will stack, and if you run out of space you can simply get more to add to the stack. Kinstryfe
I'll add my voice to the inexpensive plastic divided containers. I have some larger and some smaller, depending on how big the kit I'm breaking down is. Let me shed a ton of sprues and I got several different colors they had to easily know what's in what.
