TrueRevanchist
Ok. I'm new to 30k, and just played my first game. I was under the impression that you could only take up to 1 artillery tank squadron, but my opponent told me that I should make a list with 3 basilisks and 3 medusas. I run Iron warriors, so it's certainly fluffy, but I don't want to make a list that is not valid. Please help me to figure this out. If Iron warriors can take more than 1 artillery tank squadron, that would be cool, but I doubt it's the case. Thanks! Marshal Rohr
It is only 0-1 Artillery Tanks. It would need to be 3 Basilisks or 3 Medusas. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4961662 Share on other sites
Caillum
If you want more big guns, ally in Imperialis Militia & Cults with 3 Medusa Artillery Carriages. They can upgrade to breacher shells that are 48” S10 AP1 Heavy 1, Blast, Armourbane. Brutal! :) Having some human meatshields is also very appropriate for Iron Warriors. Gorgoff
In addition to your Basilisk/Medusa Artillery Tanks you can choose Thudd Guns, Whirlwind Scorpius and Minotaurs (page 8 in the Legiones Astartes Age of Darkness Army List). That's more then enough big bangbang for your army. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4961753 Share on other sites
lokkorex
Your opponent either doesn't know about the rules, or he/she/it meant you should have two squadrons so you can pick and choose based on what you feel like playing. Also, it still bugs me how apparently THE artillery legion with the largest siege train among the legions, still only can take a maximum of three tanks. Combined with 9 to 12 Quad Mortars Solar Auxillia actually can take multiple Artillery squadrons. Turns out standard humans are better at this whole siege thing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4961871 Share on other sites
Marshal Rohr
For effectiveness and a fluffy feel to the army, take an allied earth shaker carriage battery, a Medusa artillery tank squadron, and a siege breaker to give them phosphex. On a six by four it’s kinda neutered, but if you ever play an apocalypse or team game on an 8 or 12 foot table everyone will hate you in the good way. That's what I was saying, but the guy said that I could definitely take more than 1 squad of 3. I was already planning on having a squad of medusas and one of basilisks for choices, but I was extremely confused. He did mention Ironfire, but he was sating that it was legal to do that cheese of 9 artillery tanks with iron fire. I appreciate the responses and I definitely plan on allying with Solar Auxilla and/or imperial militia/cult. Kizzdougs
Was this the same guy that used Magnus against you in your first every game of Heresy? Maybe he's not such a great source of 30k info... Like others have said, add some Quad Mortars, Scorpius Whirlwinds, a Typhon Siege tank or some allied artilery if you want some more heavy firepower :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4962584 Share on other sites

Like others have said, add some Quad Mortars, Scorpius Whirlwinds, a Typhon Siege tank or some allied artilery if you want some more heavy firepower Quad-mortars, the Scorpius and the Typhon are all excellent choices, although I think all are far too good for their cost. Be warned phosphex quad mortars lead to fewer friends! Fangbanger
Yeah just because a legion is good at siege warfare, doesn't mean that's all they had. Having lots or templates giving no saves won't be much fun, so mix it up a little Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4962800 Share on other sites

Basing your knowledge on 'what some guy said' is a great way to become the guy no one wants to game with. Noserenda
Id actually look at Ordo Reductor artillery if you were thinking about allying in some, much more fun artillery chassis with loads of options and Mech are also solid IW Ally choices ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342417-artillery/#findComment-4965930 Share on other sites
