thymidine
Hey all, I am starting a Custodes army and want to be sure the base theme goes well with the amazing models. Does anyone know of any resin bases or scratch built techniques that compliment the Custodes look? I was thinking of marble temple kind of look, but I'm open to suggestions! Thanks for the help. Kizzdougs
30k or 40k? I usually go for urban rubble or desert bases. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4962500 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
Have a look through Dragon Forge Design's site - lots of great styles there, and several are paved/cobbled/temples/ruins. Also, the high quality of the DF stuff is simply without compare IMO. :) Brother Desultor, balordazul, thymidine and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4962813 Share on other sites

Aothaine
I'm building mine with custom built bases and painting them up as marble with a golden Aquila in the center of the base. When I get one finished in 2020 I'll link a picture. ^_^ It is going to be black marble with the golden Aquila in the center. Major_Gilbear
Just be aware that if you buy the Mircoart bases that that are all smaller than they're supposed to be. So 25mm is actually 22-23mm, 32mm is actually 29mm, etc. Otherwise, the Microart bases have very nice crisp details. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4977781 Share on other sites
burningsky25
The bases I'm seriously considering using are from Tabletop Art, called Ruins of Sanctuary. First found them demo'd by a different user here. Not sure if anyone has experience ordering from them before, but they look like a good setting for Custodes and interesting variety in design. Those bases look Amazing!Never tried them though They look good but in their site they lack the bike bases 75x46mm oval This is the bigger problem with resin bases nowadays that you don't usually find all the sizes needed in the pattern you want for your army Lately GW introduced the new ovals for cavalry (60x32mm) and bikes (75x46mm) and not all the guys Who make resin bases have bases in this sizes and when they do they are really costy For example scibor makes 75x46mm bases with the round pattern but they cost about 7€ each and the release is only One variation while the old bike bases in the same pattern are in packs of three with 3/4 variation in design Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4986179 Share on other sites

Constantine Valdor
I've just found the Imperial Palace bases from Dark Art Miniatures as of today, and I had to grab at least 5. I'm outside the UK, so shipping was a bit rough, but these look worth it. Hopefully they add another version of this for the bike bases, which look a bit smaller from the flyer that they offer. https://www.darkartminiatures.com/40mm_Imperial_Palace_bases/p1768314_17386083.aspx Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4989021 Share on other sites

Prot
The dragon forge bases are fantastic. The set above I used for my Grey Knights and they’re in my thread. He does great work and they’re very consistent, but just be forewarned he can take quite some time to finish orders (I’ve made very large orders with him, and small ones). He’s always delivered though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4989547 Share on other sites
Master Sheol
Dragonforge bases is the only one that have all the ranges in all the sizes available from GW and this makes building any force easier Pity cause there are guys like scibor or microarts that make bases with better details and designs However compared to the first sets that were quite simple the new ones are getting closer in quality of design to the european ones I like how dragonforge improved their designs ;) Edited January 22, 2018 by Master Sheol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342455-good-bases-for-custodes/#findComment-4989586 Share on other sites
