Wolf_Lord_Hardrada
So its finally time to think about painting some Sisters, yay! Hopefully this doesn't look too 'Iron Man', still not settled on the helmet because of that...but since none of my current Sisters have helmets I guess thats a worry for another day. Opinions please? Quixus
Looks good. I would however either paint both shoulder pads black or red. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342460-opinions-on-a-colour-scheme-please/#findComment-4962593 Share on other sites
Wolf_Lord_Hardrada
I was thinking of having the armour (red bits) painted to show 7 Sacred wounds of saint blah blah or something, but wasn't sure about having the off balanced shoulder pads. Might go for both being red. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342460-opinions-on-a-colour-scheme-please/#findComment-4962621 Share on other sites
dracpanzer
I would balance the shoulder pads either way. Perhaps make them black, bacpack red, make the helm black with a red face plate? Lord Grimskull
I'm partial to the mixed color pauldrons but I always feel they should have a function like: Black/black - battle sister Black/red - Retributor Red/red - Seraphim Etc, like have them as a visual identifier for rank. taikishi
There's something... off... about the scheme, but I can't place my finger on it. Something that, when I look at the image, just instinctively tells me "something doesn't look right". Bjorn Firewalker
There's something... off... about the scheme, but I can't place my finger on it. Something that, when I look at the image, just instinctively tells me "something doesn't look right". Is it the red gauntlets and boots, which look bloodstained? They remind me of a certain Chaos Space Marine whose red gauntlets mark him as a murderer whose execution was deferred, as well as a certain band of corrupted warriors. Drider
It looks like it's going to be a pain in the butt to paint squads of that scheme. I'm not sure about the white habit and black armour. black doesn't do lowlights and white doesn't do highlights, unless you spend a lot of time on it you run the risk of it looking flat. Which isn't what you want from a troop paint job. If you're wanting to do reds and don't want it coming out 'ironman' i'd consider dropping the gold for metal and doing the fluer de lis and aquila the same colour as the trim. Defo need to rethink the helm, try black helm and where you have gold now change it to red, or vice versa. it's a big departure from your concept but have you considered doing red armour with a black habit? Wolf_Lord_Hardrada
Red armour with a black habit is interesting...might give that a shot in the armour painter and see how I feel! Servant of Dante
I like that it sticks to the pallet of red black and white (wither gold hilights) but I agree it feels a bit busy. Too many different sections in different colors perhaps. ValourousHeart
For the most part, you don't get see the corset on many of the current range, as the gun covers most of it.So that might not be the best place for your 2nd color. All the girls are mostly armor and robes, so I found that it is better to focus your second color on the robes. The weapons on the current range represent about 1/3 of the models overall height. Quite literally Legs, Guns, and Head/Shoulders... like in the picture above. This naturally lends itself to having the 3rd color on the weapons. From there it is just a matter of picking our details on those 3 sections with your 4th - 6th colors. A couple models in the range, mostly superiors & banners, have purity seals... I went with a strong contrasting color here.It is such a small area that it doesn't detract from the model, but the high contrast makes the model stand out in the squad. Wolf_Lord_Hardrada
I've decided to go for the red armour (Mephiston, going to highlight with Wazdakka I think, not sure if I want to do a wash on it or not), 'white' robes (Celestine->Ulthuan->White Scar) and the bolter is going to be Abbadon black for the casing and leadbelcher for the metal parts. Gold trim on the armour too, Retributor->Stormhost Silver highlight. Not sure about hair colour yet, I want to do the classic white hair, but at the same time I'd rather go for a mix of hair colours.
