Has anyone....bothered to use him?

I just looked over his rules because i hadnt done so this edition and ive gotta say...WHY would anyone take him?

He just seems so pants. For a named character he brings absolutely nothing. His entry would have been better suited as a generic ecclesiarch.

Am i missing something?

That's because you're paying 63 points to get +1WS, +1BS, +1W, +1A, +1Ld, the ability to give units within 6" +1Ld, and a souped up storm bolter that's only slightly better (about 1/20) inside 0-12" as long as you don't trigger the Assault weapon rules.

For 15 fewer points you can get Greyfax, who gives everyone within 6" of her Ld 10 instead of +1Ld, loses 4++ for a 3+, has better wargear and has the benefits of being a psyker and an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor.

Edit: Heck, for the same cost you can get Coteaz, who lets you fire Overwatch on deep strikers and infiltrators, Ordo Malleus benefits, psyker benefits, has a 2+/5++, an assault d6 weapon with the same range as the Redeemer, and is S6, -3 save, 3D in melee, and passes out his 10Ld like Greyfax does.

I wonder if that stacks. jacobus gives greyfax +1ld, she gives a unit ld11. (now the stack bit which i highly doubt off hand without looking at the wording) jacobus gives the unit +1ld taking them to ld12. Make Jacobus warlord and give him the +1ld warlord trait, he gives greyfax +2 ld, she gives blob squads LD12, throw in a dialogus for rerolls.

Breaking Sisters, One mechanic at a time!

have Celestine hanging out within 6" to give the blobs 5++ and all of a sudden you've got blob squads that wont break to moral and are potentially very hard to shift.

I'd like to see another command unit, somewhere between a canoness and Celestine. An honest to goodness Sister of Battle, not the shotgun hobo. Maybe, just maybe, when we get new models next year (Emperor hear our prayers), we could get saints from the major factions as a command unit. It would be awesome to take my sisters in the Order of the Bloody Rose into battle following Saint Mina. It would kind of break the lore, but GW doesn't seem to mind as long as sales are going up. I'm thinking a point value of around 100, but with some special shenanigans specific to the sisters in her order. Any thoughts?

Especially since the Order of the Bloody Rose was founded centuries after Mina was martyred :D

I’d use the Founding Saints models if they were made for historical battles, maybe, but I don’t want to see them actually in the current plot line, which they would be in GW released them. That would just be dumb. So I’d rather they just not touch them, but if they do make cool models I’ll just roll my eyes at thenlore implementation and ignore it.

Excellent point, Dante! There might be a need for perhaps a lesser known saint for each order. I doubt GW would puff up our lore enough to actually do that though. The Death Guard and Space Marines seem to be getting an endless stream of named characters, so throwing a few our direction would be appreciated.

Isn't arabella technically unaccounted for?

The fluff just says it’s unknown if she was martyred or met some other fate and the Order of the Sacred Rose refused to talk about it. Either way they were founded a long time after she was gone/dead. Personally I think there’s no way she’s not dead . . .
