Ogryn bodyguard potential

Hi guys,

 

About to paint a unit off bullgryns with mauls and come across bodyguard unit. Essentially they cost +25 pts for extra attack and extra 3 wounds.

 

Was wondering if its worth taking 3 bodyguards to abuse the wound allocation to share wounds around + combine with death mask relic for a 2+ invo and d3 wound heal once per game.

 

Potential? They'd be mounted in a chimera or taurox to protect and move.

12 attacks vs 16 attacks

18 wounds vs 15 wounds

Transport vs no transport

Ability to take deathmask, fit a support character in transport and split up after drop.

 

Psychic buffs/strategems aren't as useful though targeting restrictions against characters would help

I feel one with deathmask is great, without deathmask they are not worth is over normal bulgryns as a combat unit.

 

Using them for taking wounds could be great if AM had expensive characters, but with what we have it is usually a better idea to just take another commander or psyker instead.

I have a bodyguard in my list for my CC. Its job is to attempt to soak up wounds one way or another. If it fights and kills something then thats a bonus. You dont take a bodyguard cuz of their combat potential. You take them to protect your warlord from sniper fire or whatever else targets them.
