Helias_Tancred
Subject line says it all. I have Garran Crowe and a box of Purifiers. How do you gear them out? What transports do you use them with? Then how do you use them on the battlefield? Thanks. You don't. /thread Seriously, if you have to use them, put them in a tough to crack transport (land raider crusader/storm raven) and gate the transport/move it up into position, then bail + move the next turn and try and get within range to smite. Drop a brotherhood captain near by for the double range smite (3" > 6"). TBH, it's still pretty crap. You can deal 3-18 mortal wounds, you're going to average 10.5 mortal wounds with 2 squads + crow - not worth it for the points it costs. Gentlemanloser
Damn cap beat me to it! Touche my good fellow! /doffs tophat Plus Crowe is bad. Very bad. His best use is to activate trollface and cuss your opponent off. As you charge Crowe and attack with him, he dies, and you spend 2CP to play Only in Death Does Duty End and stack it with his Heroic Sacrife to attack another two times. Watch your opponents first rage that omg attacking three time is op broken. Then laugh as they realise that even with three full fight phases Crowe killed no one. I've got an old finecast Crowe. If i didn't love the mini i'd leave him on a windowledge for the sun to have its wicked way. Corvus Fortis
Then how do you use them on the battlefield? As Strike Squads. It is the best way you can use them now, seriously. For friendly games they can do something on small point ones with smaller tables. Their main strenght that they can be painful when they get close, but no one pays attention on them, while dealing with NDKs, Razors or Ravens. I usually put them in Rhino and gate it with another unit. Or put them in Stormraven. They have to be in range of smite turn 2 to pay off. Danarc
I used 2 purifiers squads and crowe in my first 8th edition game. I putted them into a SR. And I can confirm you what you read here below. Don’t use them. And absolutely don’t use crowe. They are overpriced Strike. They make exactly the same stuff but worse because you cankt deep strike. I’m very sad about this because I love purifiers but nowadays no one should use purifiers. Reclusiarch Darius
Raven is the only viable delivery system. It takes a fair degree of luck however. An idea I have been floating with my local group is to increase their base range to 6". It's just a house rule, but it means they're actually useable with a nearby Brother Captain off 'Gate' or Teleportarium strategem. TheCastigator
I usually put them in Rhino and gate it with another unit. Or put them in Stormraven. They have to be in range of smite turn 2 to pay off. Having tried this myself, it looks 1000 times better in your imagination (it sounds so cool!) relative to how it actually (doesn't) work. Purifiers are, unfortunately, one of the units in the book that is pretty much unusable. D6 smite at 3" isn't worth what you lose for the increased points. If it were up to me, I would give them a mini-vortex all units within 6" take d3 (Wishlist Alert: maybe give them D6 on a role of 12 or 13). I think it should be more indiscriminate. They should also go back to 2 attacks base. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342645-how-do-you-use-purifiers/#findComment-4967450 Share on other sites
Loyalist
I'd planned to paint a unit of Purifiers when I bought the GK kits a few years ago but am painting them as a Strike Squad instead. i have the metal Crowe model but if I use him it will be as a Brotherhood Champion.
