Buggane
Hi All Just built my first dread, an ironclad, and wondered what people do about the colour scheme. I'm following the white bits for veterans Raven Guard colour scheme, and feel that a bit of white here and there sets off the black nicely. With that in mind how do folk paint theirs? All black, white arms, white plates on the front? Merry Christmas All! duz_
I hope to start painting my Redemptor dread soon... I plan on doing the arms white :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342679-dreadnoughts-and-white/#findComment-4967302 Share on other sites
Race Bannon
I did both: my Ven Dread has white arms, but my not-ven dread has black. The reality is that I am deviating from the white-armed veteran scheme, which was decided and finalized in my head after the Ven Dread was finished. Sooo ... there ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342679-dreadnoughts-and-white/#findComment-4967309 Share on other sites
SanguinaryGuardsman
If you want to spice it up pic a feature of the model and paint it a distinct color. Since the dread is venerable... give it a gold fist. Make any gun casings gold also. Some others things i like... don't paint black... use an offblack like VMC German Grey. I think the GW equivalent is skavenblight dinge. don't paint white... use an offwhite or light grey like VMC Light or Citadel Uthuan Grey. Shameless self promotion: Blue gun casings, gold trim, and bluegrey edge highlights. Buggane
I spent ages trying and failing to mix an off black consistently enough to be able.to touch up later. Is that model vmc german grey? I was thinking of painting something green, as I'm doing the 4th company, even if it's just a stripe on the leg or something Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342679-dreadnoughts-and-white/#findComment-4967619 Share on other sites

Knight of the Raven
Forge World's old Raven Guard dreadnought has been out of production for some time, but hopefully SCC's own can inspire you. SanguinaryGuardsman
I spent ages trying and failing to mix an off black consistently enough to be able.to touch up later. If you want to be a complete hipster you could try VMC Black Grey as a main color. It is a very dark grey or offblack but with a distinct green look to it.
