This is amazeballs.  It's the new Carnival of Chaos like in Mordheim.

Miniatures like this was what got me into The Hobby.  Reminds me of 1st ed Orks with Madboyz and Freebooterz.  Really pleased with this.

The beauty of AoS is that its much more true to the older editions of WFB where epic fantasy was more of the norm.

I love these all out designs too. Lets see if Ku'gath will get his own model too.

Cheers,

Your 1st sentence, Commissar, sold me on AoS more than all of GW's marketing materials combined.  My headcanon, or rather perspective, is now that of the nomadic tribes of the Northern Chao Wastes, still on that continent floating around in space.  They're so used to the whole world around them being all warped and freaky that, when the End Times happened and the different Ages passed...they didn't even notice because to them it was just Tuesday.

As to your 2nd sentence, I 99% believe the Great Unclean One will have different head swaps.  You can see the crease below his 2nd (or 3rd or 5th) chin.  Notice the heavier shadow in the picture of his chin on his sword-arm side?  Then the thicker line of ink on the other side of his face, suggesting a crevice in the model, like the edge of socket where you would glue the head?  Perhaps...and IMHO very likely, one of them will be a named Great Unclean One character.

And the only one I could think of is Kugath himself.  As you probably know, he had a small role in the novel Dark Imperium and I think he'll show up.

Very happy to read that. I think that both WFB and AoS have their charms but in the end I do think AoS' design will speak to a larger audience, indeed also including younger ones. The fun thing really is that WoW was inspired by WFB and now AoS seems very inspired by WoW. I like all kinds of fantasy and can dig AoS. Plus it's only great that we can use our armies for both systems.

I think it's very likely we'll see weapon swap and head swap options for the Great Unclean One. I doubt we'll see different modus like the Bloodthirster but wouldn't count out the option of Ku'gath being included in this kit. As long as there is something like a cauldron of Nurglings I think we'll be set.

Yeah Ku'gath should show up too, never had his own model but simply was very interesting in WFB and 40K. It's time for him to appear in AoS.

Praise Nurgle, this kit is magnificent! It looks like the raised weapon hand swaps out at the wrist with three options. The head swaps out at the neck with three options. There is an option for exposed guts or a belly mouth. And there are three different lowered forearms, a casting one for Rotigus and one holding a knife and one holding a flail.

If the build option with the bell gives some sort of a LD debuff my Nurgle-marked Night Lords will be getting some daemonic reinforcements. (Who am I kidding? I'm picking this turd-monster up no matter what his rules are.)

Dat Nurgling tho.

The more I look at these special character mites, the more it screams out to take them and mount several of them on a 40 mm base to act as a "command base" for nurgling units... and now my wallet is reaching for a knife!!

Someone really is having tons of fun designing those special Nurglings.  And I commend them. But is that a surprise considering my picture?

The GUO is awesome. That's all I ever wanted when I thought of a GUO. As cool as the FW one is something sbout it didn't convince me to buy one. This one though, I am amazed.

That is a great idea, I might have to steal it.

I have a feeling that even if I don't field Rotigus I'll still be utilizing his head for my Great Unclean One... it's just so compelling. Although something tells me he'll be a psyker powerhouse (Nurgle-wise).

Exactly as Lord_Caerolion said, now I'm looking forward to which head you'll use ;) The arm-head or his cloacked head!

I'm also looking very forward to hear and see if the GUO will be on a 100mm base or 130mm base. It's difficult to make out of the single size reference picture we have.

I did make up a mock-up of him at a 100mm base and 130mm base. I hope he's on a 130mm base, this would make him just slightly smaller as the Forgeworld GUO.

100mm base size mock up:

130mm base size mock up:

Very rough size comp estimate offcourse, based on this picture I hope it could be 130mm base for him.
