This is post is less asking about what units to field in alliance with my main army of Wolves and more about what world these humans would be drawn from.

Midgardian survivors seems a good choice, especially since I wanted to use smaller numbers and Veterans anyway. I've also considered Aettguard. Of course, I know next to nothing about any color schemes they might have.

Do we have any particular worlds or regiments that we have a strong relation with or would be frequently fighting alongside?

I wanna say Valhalla Ice Warriors is on that list but you might need to fact check that one! Well there was Cadia and then Armageddon. But on a side note, there is a part of me that wants Kaerls to change in due to the recent fluff changes and events. I want them to become an army on their own. No more nonesense from the humans on Fenris.

Logan Grimnar is one of the best-loved Chapter Masters in the Imperium due to his fondness for helping out the underdogs. You can easily choose whatever regiment you like as there are undoubtedly many IG Commanders out there who owe the Great Wolf for past help and would be honoured to serve alongside the sons of Russ

If the Kaerls do get rules, I'd bet it would be in our codex as part of an excuse to get us Leman Russ tanks without needing to ally. Which would be helpful, since a big reason army building wise for me choosing Guard was the tanks support. I'll need to look into Valhallan Ice Warriors, though. My main reason for excluding them was having to purchase the old metal kits. I could track down some third party bits, so they aren't completely out.

I figured that there wouldn't be many regiments who would refuse to work with us, but I was looking for regiments that are often fighting alongside us, or otherwise ruled by us. Which is why my first inclination was Midgardia.

Imagine this. Choose Bjorn Fell-Hand as your warlord. Unlocks defenders of Fenris special detachment. Which gives you Kaerls as elites for troop choices (using scions rules). Heavy support option to unlock Leman Russ exterminator tanks and or more Dreadnoughts. Also Dreadnoughts, Wulfen and Fenrisian wolves as troop choices. A guy can dream! LOL

I have no idea if this is consistent with the fluff or not, but I was thinking to do something like:

kitbash together some fantasy chaos marauders and catachans, to make viking looking guardsmen. Call them kaerls, and say they are like the fenris guys who didn't make the cut to become space marines, but were close.

I don't know what regiment rules they would use, but it probably doesn't matter. You can just pick something. Right?

I think the space wolves have various peons around, thralls or whatever, right? Where do those guys come from? I'm sure some of them have lasguns?

If we are allying Valhallans with Wolves they need to re release that Lone Wolves diorama. I DESPERATELY want that wolf with the greataxe. And the Valhallan with the bolter is super dope too.

I used to have that diorama.... Got broke when we had the first kid and sold the base and Valhallans to a friend, still have the 2 Wolves though (although I chopped the nid head off and gave it to a Rune Priest, so the axe guy ended up with a plasma pistol. I ran him as krom until the official Krom model came out. Still have the Rune priest and his original backpack, so I could build him exactly as he was :)

The problem with not making the cut to be a Space Wolf is that generally you either get left on the initial battlefield to bleed out cause you weren't impressive enough, or you go crazy naked wolf man in the wilderness when they implant the Canis Helix. Our chapter doesn't have a good "wash out" policy unfortunately.

I've always liked the idea of bondsmen being the ones that are the normal humans around the wolves. I mean they really should be super fierce as they are still native Fenrisians, and it makes a nice sort of dichotomy with the super human Astartes who literally just become the gods/legends of their homeworld.

I've just always struggled visually with how to build them as well. :/

@Dantay, yeah I recall seeing that before and was SUPER jealous. There's one on Ebay right now for around $150 usd and Im really really trempted.
