Hello!

I have been frequenting the B&C again as I am waning back into the hobby, and am looking to start up an army (and finally finish it for once). I was starting Death Guard, however their models are a bit too 'busy' for me, and while a more skilled painter could certainly achieve wonders with it, for now I just want to get some models painted and ready to play some games!

I currently am looking at starting a faction from the sons of Dorn, and have Dark Imperium at my disposal to do so. The problem is picking a faction to paint up. I am deciding between the following three:

Crimson Fists - I like them, like their fluff, but I am not exactly in LOVE with them. I think they are neat but they are sort of the mid-line here.

Executioners - Fluff is great, I enjoy them a lot, but like their blue shiny color a bit less so.

Soul Drinkers - I like these guys the most in terms of color scheme. I think they would be my favorite, but them not being 'Sons of Dorn' confirmed is a bit concerning to me. I could easily see them being rebuilt by Primaris numbers just like the other two factions though.

Ah well, in all honesty my sort of idea for all of this is that the Soul Drinkers are getting a 'take 2'. After being excommunicated, they were reborn using Dorn's geneseed to make the new Primaris Marines (Not sure if it will be Primaris only though, maybe some old battle brothers will return 'home'). I meant I see them as a mid-line in that I like their fluff, and their colors, I just don't find them to pop. Purple as a color to paint has always caught my eye, so I am glad I will be getting to take a shot at it.

Not sure how to hide this thread or delete it or whatever- but I have come to the conclusion I will be doing Soul Drinkers.

I don't see a need to close or delete this topic. It provides a good place for you to display your progress and discuss elements of the Chapter and your army as you collect, model, and paint.

Personally, I've always found the Soul Drinkers to have a striking appearance (pre-heresy, that is). The fact that the Chapter was one of those that fought at the second Siege of Terra is also one of the things that makes them stand out from the crowd. I'm looking forward to seeing your army.

Ah well thanks! Currently doing a test model. Back when I tried chaos out a couple of years ago, and sat eagerly at the (heretical) rumors that came in for a Slaanesh Daemonkin, I painted up some EC in the HH scheme, but since that never came to light they just kind of sat. Luckily now the scheme is similar and I can apply what I learned to it. I signed up for IFEV to motivate myself to get at least one model done, but hopefully I can get the box done so I can play some games. Here's the current progress, as taken quickly with my iPhone:

It's not yet highlighted, just has its basecoat and washes. I will probably be setting up a thread here soon for my progress. As a sidenote, I downloaded the decal sheet from BOLS from here a bit ago, and am currently removing the purple squares in an attempt to get it so they could work with transparent decals.

I created my own Chapter "Dorn's Cohort" turns out I used the Soul Drinker color scheme without realizing it. (All the shoulders will eventually be white, also please forgive my DV marines, when I was new to the hobby I didn't know what the shoulder markings meant.)
