lash144
Hey folks, first of all a happy new year! The next unit that I wanna try out are some Bullgryns, so a few questions: 1) For what role do you include them? Purely as a countercharge unit or do you also you them offensively? (They are pretty slow imo) 2) How do you include them? Multiple small units, one big unit? 3) What kind of support is worth it? Priest and Psyker seems like a no brainer. What's with Celestine? our_baz
Counter attack unit. I run 4 with mauls, supported by a priest and psyker. They are usually my MVP, whatever they change gets turned into red paste. CoffeeGrunt
They're a really good counter charge unit as Baz said, though beware of Damage 3 weapons as they'll take them apart in short order. I tried running a Priest as support, but found they often outran his very small buff range. Astropaths and Psykers are solid support for them though. I run mine with Slabshield and Hittin' Stick. Haven't done me wrong yet, and they've done serious damage to a fair few serious targets this edition. NatBrannigan
Use them for anything! Only one game against Tyranids where they were only useful. In other games they've pulverised units. As said above try and avoid the really choppy D3 characters etc and you're laughing. There must be better ways but a unit of 8 with mainly slab shields with a couple of the 4+ invulnerable shields is what I'm using. Priest and Psyker may as well be mandatory, as well as Yarrick for me. That's hugely expensive of course but I've never regretted taking them. duz_
I throw mine in a Valk and send them down field to bring the fight! Occasionally if my opponent gets the drop on me they get relegated to counter assault duties. They always before well (unless my dice are cold)! In fact I find them somewhat under priced tbh and surprised not more people use them. I run them in a valk with lord commissar, priest and psyker. The +1A from the priest is handy. Its expensive that way and tbh I think I should just switch the 3 characters for a 4th bullgryn. However the multiple characters seem to confuse my opponents target priority. It also gives me a few ablative (albeit) expensive characters if I roll 1s for their grav chute jumps! Damn FAQ! Akrim
Usually 3x with Slabs/Mauls, typically smack dab in the center deployment behind my Conscript unit with a Priest. Good group to keep my tanks safe. Ive always been quite satisifed with them. Option 2 ditto Duz, fly in on a Valk, jump out and beat em up works good too. mertbl
Ran 3 last night in a valk with priest, psyker and inquisitor. Priest died on the grav chute drop. Psyker buffed them with -1 to hit. Smashed a unit of 3 biovores, 2 units of termigants and held up a carnifex for 2 turns. duz_ and Akrim 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/342924-bullgryns-how-do-they-perform-and-how-do-you-use-them/#findComment-4972751 Share on other sites

Akrim
Only 10 each. Ah yes, still good though. Always avoid the Genestealers though, that never goes well.
