Mileposter Builds Things

It's not for a particular force - it's being built specifically for display and auction. I received it pre-built, unfortunately, so I'm not able to do fun tech bits with it (I was actually really upset about that). I will be magnetizing the upper turret to the main chassis, and magnetizing the custom base that's being put together for it - that way it ca nbe pulled into the three parts for easy storage.

Swear, the next one I can get my hands on is going to have a pulsating main cannon crystal.

The Ynnari character I partly sculpted up will be using the same color scheme, though. It'll be a nice contrast with a lot of the gold she'll be carrying and the greenery of the base she'll be on.

I've been very lax with updating this as I've worked on several projects over the last month. That said, I have a happy in getting a milestone accomplished with The Nexus War.

A basic test server has been put online over at http://indexmechanicus.com

Right now, all it allows it move actions as I build more content into the map, but it should help give a better understanding to put something in your hands.

I throw the detail and discussions on that one over in the Homegrown Rules thread.

I also got a lot of progress on the Wound Tracker as well, which is now ready to be mass produced. Once I have a test model completed (stay tuned here for the step-by-step on installation!) I'll be offering them for sale along with an LED pack. More details on that closer to actual time.

The testing board for the finished product - note that the board it's all put on is not intended to go into the model, it's just so I can display the unit without it flopping everywhere. Next to it is the completed battery pack, disconnected, with a QI receiver attached. For size comparison, the square matrix of LEDs on the Tracker is the size of an American quarter.

Started work on the Wound Tracker Leman Russ. Cut out the chassis parts where the buttons and LED display will be going, as well as the slot for the on/off switch and a pair of peepholes for indicator lights.

Got the battery module and charger into the chassis last night. Since this is a prototype build and isn't intended to have any sort of open or accessible parts once I'm finished, I've soldered on dupont connectors rather than direct soldering - and will also help organize the wires with such a tight fit. The kits I produce down the line will not have such large connections on them. It's also noticeable that I haven't done any of the potting for this prototype.

Since we don't want things getting bounced about or scratched up inside here, I used some silicone to adhere the parts in place with each other. Silicone isn't the strongest stuff out there, but it's adhesive enough and impact resistant. Interior parts shouldn't be under that much stress to begin with and I'm only looking to keep them steady during typical use and travel. Green Stuff will be used to secure more frequently roughed things, such as the on/off switch, for example.

Also shown here (which won't be in the kits) is the QI receiver I added under the battery. This'll keep from needing to open up the model cavity to recharge or change out the batteries. Wanted to build this all-in-one and need no hassle afterwards. :biggrin.:

I'll update here when I reach milestones with this thing, but the more detailed images and blow-by-blow posts will be over in the Imperial Guard thread.

I haven't updated this thread in way too long. I've been working pretty diligently on a lot of different projects.

Kill Team, however, has brought me very fervently back to the model crafting with all of it's invitations for custom heroes and villains on each team.

I'm putting together a Necron Kill Team as I had declared in several other threads, and I'm loving the fun things I get to do with the Specialists - starting here with what is probably my laziest Specialist, the Comms Immortal.

Another dude in my Necron Kill Team - a Flayed One Combat Specialist. I wanted to make this one look like he was arriving from the charnel dimension they inhabit to surprise a victim. Converted from an Overlord because they can fall too!

For my Leader in the Kill Team I wanted to do something that referenced the 'Hunters From Hyperspace' rule - so I tried to make this Deathmark look like he's popping in from the Warp to take his shot. Still more greenstuff to do.

Theory is that it'll be painted like orange fire to match the power cores I have for this set... We'll see soon enough how difficult it proves to be!

Group shot of the Kill Team with final greenstuff and sculpted bits. These guys were a blast to put together and play with. I can't wait to paint them with the scheme I have in mind. Which one should be first?
