Hello all, so, I am curious, how have people found the prospect of putting new bits onto a previously or already painted model?

Because I am seriously digging the Space Marine Rhino Hull compatible bits that this company is considering, for my Rhinos and Razorbacks.

Sadly, however, some are already painted; so, what, if anything, does that mean for added work, if any?

Also, will I need super glue, as this is apparently a resin product?

All questions I just wanted to ask, to verify a few things here.

And, if in general question, hopefully this helps, what tactica thread if any might be most helpful to all here as far as getting new bits onto painted models would best aid us all as a subforum?

In my experience, if attaching plastic bits to an already painted plastic model, the polycement works just fine, it melts paint as well and just bonds it all together. Super glue isn't so good though, it just sticks to the top layer of paint, so a small knock can pull the added bit off along with the paint. If you need to use super glue as it's resin bits, I would suggest scrapping the paint back to the model where you want to add the new bits. Then paint it all again after its attached.

Yes you will need super glue, it is also advisable to scrape the paint from the area you will gluing so that you are gluing resin to plastic as this will create the best bond. There looks like there's heaps of surface area for the glue, so pinning won't be necessary.

Cheers,

Jono

If you want the choice, drill out holes in te armour for the exhaust vents and use theses as pegs to hold the armour in place.

Magnets maybe for the middle piece

You can paint the extra armour separately from the Rhino to preserve the paintjob and remove the armour pieces for when you do not run a tank with extra armour
