Happy new year to all you glorious heresy people.

For the new year I've decided to start a new legion. The two previous 30k legions I have, Alpha Legion and Emperor's Children, are more on the finesse side, so I decided to go for the World Eaters since they seem much more straight forward and brutal. Before I start blowing money on that sweet sweet resin, I've made up a tentative list for me to build towards. I've opted to go for the berzerker assault RoW as it seems more versatile than the crimson path one, as you only need to get out of your own deployment zone to have its bonus take effect. But the list i came up with should be flexible enough that I could run either if I wanted to.

In terms of army 'feel' I mainly play for fun in my group so super competitiveness is not a priority. But that being said the people in my group are mostly all experienced gamers and I also don't want to get rolled over every game.

Anyways here's the list, I'd love to hear what I should change or tweak. One area of concern I have is anti heavy armour. I'm having trouble fitting in what I want to be the core of the army (inductii blob and red butchers in spartans) and getting sufficient anti-tank in 2500. The plan is to put the praetor with the butchers, and the cortus in the dreadclaw. Surlak has choices on where to go, he could go with the butchers or the inductii to boost the survivability of either, or even with the tac squad on foot to really help them hold that one objective.

HQ

Praetor: Iron halo, paragon blade, digital lasers

RoW: Berzerker assault

Gahlen Surlak

Troops:

15 Inductii: chainaxes and pistols, vexilla, sergeant with power fist and artificer armour

10 tactical squad: chainaxes and pistols, vexilla, sergeant with power fist and artificer armour

15 assault marines: chainaxes, 3 power axes, sergeant with power fist and artificer armour

Heavy support:

Spartan: flare shield, armoured ceramite, dozer blade

Spartan: flare shield, armoured ceramite, dozer blade

Elites:

7 Red butchers: swap bolters for power axes, devoured with chainfist and powerfist

3 apothecarion detachment: 2 with artificer armour, 1 with jump pack

1 contemptor cortus: chainfist and dreadnaught ccw

Fast attack:

1 Dreadclaw

Looks pretty solid to me!

Personally I'd put Surlak with the Red Butchers because each of the other squads already has an apothecary to accompany them.

I'm a bit worried about the Tactical Marines running across the table without a transport. Even with an apothecary they'll be a pretty soft target. Hopefully the enemy will be focussing on the bigger threats (Butchers and Inductii).

I'm also a fan of the Kharybdis Assault Claw as a cheaper alternative to the Spartan.

Can't wait to see you paint up another beautiful army :tu:

Thanks, I'm looking forward to trying out a white scheme. I'm going to try to emulate a scheme I saw on thewhisperhead's instagram.

Good call on the kharybdis. I can save a bunch of points by swapping one spartan to a special k. I've re-wrote the list with the special k in there. I've made the 10 man tactical squad on foot into an assault marine squad with some of the extra points, which should help a bit I think. The problem is that I want an apothecary with the squad, or else I'd just stick them in a rhino or dreadclaw. I have 15 points left over with this setup, I'm not sure what to spend it on. Maybe an extra body, or upgrades on the dread or praetor.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan...

You have very few units and so would advise trimming down the butcher unit, I'd also drop an apoth too as the butchers already have an Fnp.

The 10 man assault squad is pointless, just go for a basic tac squad in a rhino - drop another apoth too.

Also, try for odd number of pods... so maybe something like:

preator, surlak, 15 x marines in a Spartan

15 x assault marines with apoth

10 x inducti in dreadclaw

5 x butchers in dreadclaw

cortus in dreadclaw

This then leaves you around 350 points for either another assault squad or some fire support from a sicaran Arcus, preds, etc..

or if you want the K...

preator, surlak, 15 x marines in K

15 assault marines and apoth

10 x inducti in claw

5 x butchers in Land. R

cortus in claw

comes to about 2150 so lots of points for some Javs and tanks

Hmm, you do bring up some good points. It would be good to have some fire support to crack those tougher transports so I can charge the soft stuff inside. How does this list look? I have 80 points left over with it that I'm not sure how to spend.

much better I feel.

The vindis will still struggle with the tough stuff but yeah, good firepower for medium tanks

oh you don't need 3 apoths and surlak... just 1 with pack and him

drop the mb if you have a power fist, they will always be better
