So I had an idea to differentiate my nurgle daemons. I really like the FW Prince and Herald and how they incorporate technology into their design (mechanical arm/ cannons/ oil (slime) drum etc

I want my Nurgle army to be Daemon Engine heavy so what about Nurgle Daemons spawned from rotting metal/ oil/ rust and chemical waste etc? Would make a nice contrast with the organic parts too, having them still manifest as pink/ fleshy/ boney.

Anyone have any ideas on how I'd go about painting something like really nasty looking oil or liquid metal with lots of rust etc?

I'm not entirely sure how to make the liquids look infected, but for general inspiration the 2016 reboot of Doom would be a good place to start. I've not played the game myself but the Mancubus looks like the right direction for a Nurgle themed project.

Viscous oil would be best mixing Blood for the Blood God with Abbadon Black for a thick, semi gloss residue.

Typhus Corrosion over a drybrush of Ryza Rust, over a base of Leadbelcher washed with Agrax Earthshade gives a nice rusty metal effect, or to give a Nurgle flesh feel, Camoahade to introduce those green colours.

Personally though, I'd introduce the metallic effects by kitbashing in bionic parts onto the daemons, Kromlech's Ork bionics are a good starting point

I did something like this for my 'counts as' daemon army of horrible experiments :smile.:

This is what my plaguebearers look like

There's some other examples of rusty metal in my thread for them here

The recipe is

Basecoat rhinox hide

Typhus corrosion in bits you want to be extra rusty

Heavy drybrush of ryza rust, making sure it' uneven and you work it into the recesses

random patchy drybrush of Leadbelcher, avoiding the areas you added typhus corrosion to.

heavy wash of Agrax Earthshade

I sometimes go in with a sponge and stipple some lead belcher back on in spots.

If you wanna go even more rusty, later in that same thread I do some death guard with a different recipe, more like this

sbrYhyY.jpg

Under coat of black

Thick base coat of Typhus corrosion

drybrush leadbelcher

drybruch ryza rust

wash of Riekland flesh shade

then I put some blood and pus effects

Hope that helps/inspires :smile.:
