I've been painting my army and really struggling to do something nice for their bases.  For the record, I suck as bases, and haven't done much more than either painting them a solid color or tossed some "grass" on them.

My armies have been drifting towards lots of heavy flamer variants and melta/inferno weapons, and I also wanted to incorporate that into my bases.

I had an idea of taking a fleur de lys and having it like stamped into the ground with the bottom layer looking either molten, flaming, or smoldering, something to represent my play style, and the "surface" of the base being done in some sort of earth tone.

I measured a bit and really came to the conclusion that the 25mm base would be a bit restrictive, and the slot was absolutely out.  My local GW store made it a bit easier because while they believe in 32mm bases, 25mm are a myth, much like plastic sisters.  I scaled up to a 32mm base and saw I would have some options on getting a decent sized scene going on the base, and looked for a template to us to grab what I wanted.  Originally, I had wanted to use the hatches on the rear side of the rhino to go, but that was a bit big and shallow.  Then I tried the side emblems, and they were almost perfect!

So here's where I got after the green stuff stage!  Going to start molding and casting a few today, but I just wanted to share since it came out pretty nifty!

Also, while sanding it, I thought it could also be used as a really cool Purity Seal base, as well.  I bet painted up like an old wax seal, it would look perfect.  I'll paint a few up like that, as well.  Maybe for my Superiors and HQs.  The pictures I took are below, enjoy :)

As I've been shopping at GreenStuffWorld for my Alpha Legion basing project, I remember seeing something that could be applicable for Sisters.

Temple rolling pin

Apparently there are Fleur de Lis motifs on it, along with some inspirational markings.

I have that roller, and they work very well. If you decide to get one, or more, go ahead and get the sculpter's vaseline they have for sale on the site. It keeps the green stuff from sticking to the roller and helps smooth out any fingerprints that might get left behind. It also makes the green stuff easier to work with.
