Quad-fusion commander, HBC Riptide and rail-Broadsides are the main culprits.

I run bloat drones, Terminators and a Prince giving him ample target opportunities for his big guns.

I have invulns and DR saves for days but I don't need to fail often when being slammed with multi damage weapons.

Being CC focused against T'au Sept isn't ideal either :p

List wise not being able to slam in 2-3 (CC) terminator units t1 to lock my opponent in as well as bat/brig. getting cp boosts I'm considering a list revision.

Giving Terminators at least an Autocannon.. maybe even some combis, although I feel they are hellishly expensive. I do need more anti-tank that's for sure. I've been banking on D2 weapons on drones and prince to do the heavy lifting but when I face even 3 tanks I falter hard. Maybe melta?

Now troops; battalion demands three.

Thinking 3x5 Plague Marines with 2 Blight Launchers each. 105 points per so about 20% of the list at 1.5k.

Not troops heavy for sure but I can't see them being heavy lifters either. I have noticed objectives being hard to sit on for Maelstrom with CC termis and Fleshmower Drones so cutting the cost, keeping the durability (compared to cultists...) and at least having 2 guns that can contribute might work.

They'll provide a solid shield for Typhus too! Maybe the combo will take fire of off other targets. I'm thinking of 'augmenting' this shield wall, if not sitting on objectives, with a Foul Blightspawn. Anti charge defense and potentially anti heavy target, which the PM would struggle with.

I'll keep 2 Terminator units but give each an Autocannon just to avoid being completely useless just plinking bolters.

Emicus, that's my bad match up too. Very scary... can't touch it. It's also fairly fast.

I will tell you this: I've pulled Blightlords out of the list. Regardless of intent, GW killed the role they fullfilled for me. I thought I'd just need an adjustment but very hard lists will roast you, and spread out to prepare in T1. The Combi-Melta Blightlords were very key for me. They're in a box now.

The thing I found is between 'fly' and speed, I'm starting to think of just hiding on objectives or something. It's such a bad matchup I'm honestly just thinking of not playing Tau. (We went from 3 Tau guys and it's been going up since the dex has been out. The Foregworld stuff (one guy uses multiples) is absolutely off the rails. I have no idea who is writing this stuff for Forgeworld sometimes. It borders on "I'm not playtesting this, and we need to sell lots of them."

Anyway, the Mutliwound, anti-fly stuff is so strong, I think this pushes back into the dark ages. I don't like it, but ... pull out more poxwalkers, more crud. It's what GW seems to want. They keep pushing us there. More cultists, poxwalkers, Nurglings, etc. Cheap crap with a large foot print. (I've personally been avoiding this playstyle but the writing is on the wall with the last 2-3 dexes.Eldar/ DE/Tau/Astra are brutal against DG.)

@Prot,

It's a dire day indeed if you are boxing up your Blight Lords.  I'm almost done painting mine, they are kind of the center strength point for my Army....loosing them would be horrible.

Last time we discussed Blight Lords you didn't seem to think the FAQ Beta rules regarding Deep Strike were going to hurt you too much.....now it seems experience has changed your mind?  Is this regarding Blight Lords with Combi-Melta or in general?

Your right in theory I didn't think it would hurt, but it's a combination of things in the FAQ. IF we can't get the Poxwalker starting size moved up beyond 20, I found my opponents have found very clever ways of dealing with them now. I can't get away with much for Plaguemarines. And so I've had to reinforce my starting numbers with more reinforcement points, or something else.... Cultists. Now I don't have as many points for Bligthlords.

The ones I was using still do work fine post FAQ for some armies, but Tau isn't one so far. So compounded with the Poxnerf I think you have to look at it one of two ways: Deep strike MORE stuff to keep the threat real. or stop entirely and accept your losses.

I'm not entirely done my testing, but I have started pulling out the PBC's more because I just can't reach deep threats like I used to. IMHO GW may have gone a bit too far in protecting the gunlines with this one. But... not my thread... not my goal to derail here. lol  But that's what I've gone through so far.
