So, as many of you know, the mighty 6th legionnes Astartes, have been "blessed" by Forgeworld with a mighty praetor with which to lead its legions

 

The model is an embarrassment quite honestly.

 

So in order to re-dress this and give some pride back to the legion, I have created this thread so people can post what a real Space Wolves Praetor, Jarl & Varagyr should look like.

 

Feel free to add some background or go into a bit of detail as to how you made them and lets show FW how its done!!

 

So as the title suggests.

I made mine using

 

Body: FW praetor terminator

Knees: Dwarf shoulderpads

Chest skull: Metal Logan Grimnir model

Head: TWC kit

Axe: WHFB dwarf hammerers/ longbeards kit

Wolf: Greenstuff, made a mould from the FW Space WOlves verable dread banner and cut it to suit, then filled gaps with GS fur

Pointing hand and SB magazine: GK kit

Cloak: paper towel dipped in PVA glue

I'm a fan of wrist-mounted weapons, so that get's a big :tu: from me!  The axe is also appropriately beefy ^_^

I use him as a Logan counts-as for 40K and my Praetor the Legendary leader of Onn Great Company Jarl Gunnar "Gunn" Gunnhilt, who fought at Russ' side on Prospero and then lay on the red snow in the Alaaxes Nebula destroying the Alpha Legion cruiser Theta, allowing Russ and the rest of the Wolves time to mount a defence.

I built and painted this mini before the Varagyr were a thing, but I guess he could be a stand in for one. As you can see I like my 30k Wolves to be a bit more minimalistic than the Forgeworld versions.

 

 

Super simple conversion:

Betrayal at Calth Cataphractii Terminator legs, torso, arms, shoulders, and weapons.

Belt and dagger from the Grey Hunters' kit.

Wolf pelt from the Chaos Marauders' kit.

Shoulder pad trim from the Wolf Guard kit.

I'm not sure if the head is from the Grey Hunters or Wolf Guard kit.

 

Colour scheme:

Grey: Mechanicus Standard Grey with Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade washes.

Gold: Liberator Gold, washed with Agrax Earthshade, and Runefang Steal Highlights (Stormhost Silver is even better).
