Legion Outrider Bikes

Does anyone know if the 40K bikes are acceptable for use in a Heresy era army as Outrider bikes?

I know from a game point of view they are fine but wondered when the boxier style bikes were introduced lorewise. The Legion army list states that outriders use "ruggedly constructed, all-terrain armoured ground bikes" (which to me sound like the box 40K bikes) "and scramblers" (which to me sound like the forge world sleeker style).

I basically think the more sturdy version would suit my Death Guard better.

To be fair, the Standard legs are quite allright for Mk. IV-VI, it's only really an issue if you're going for Mk. II-III, but that's remedied with 3rd. party-offerings fairly easily.

And as for prices, it's a burden many of us bear, though some turn to practices that others consider... Unnatural :biggrin.::whistling:

The standard legs are identifiably MKVII, so I wouldn't consider them acceptable to represent era-appropriate armour marks. Unless of course they are part of a Siege of Terra loyalist force, then you're all good :-)

If the OP used a 40K bike, legs and arms and a 30K torso and head and his opponent cried foul, I'd call it nitpicking.

To illustrate the point, here's a hastily made meme:
