Ganders
Does anyone know if the 40K bikes are acceptable for use in a Heresy era army as Outrider bikes? I know from a game point of view they are fine but wondered when the boxier style bikes were introduced lorewise. The Legion army list states that outriders use "ruggedly constructed, all-terrain armoured ground bikes" (which to me sound like the box 40K bikes) "and scramblers" (which to me sound like the forge world sleeker style). I basically think the more sturdy version would suit my Death Guard better. Ranulf
It wouldn't bother me, though I'd make the effort to swap out torso/heads on the riders. Death Guard with the Aquila on the breastplate and a MK VII helmet would get some noses out of joint. Hfran Morkai
I agree with Ranulf. If you made an attempt to convert the riders to a more fitting look you shouldn"t have a problem. Personally I love the FW look, but can't stomach those prices (WS players especially, I feel for you). Fenbain
As long as the rider is in an era-appropriate armour mark (i.e. convert the legs from MKVII to something else and swap out the arms, torso and helmet), then it'd be fine with me :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343168-legion-outrider-bikes/#findComment-4978258 Share on other sites

Brother Pheidias
To be fair, the Standard legs are quite allright for Mk. IV-VI, it's only really an issue if you're going for Mk. II-III, but that's remedied with 3rd. party-offerings fairly easily. And as for prices, it's a burden many of us bear, though some turn to practices that others consider... Unless of course they are part of a Siege of Terra loyalist force, then you're all good :-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343168-legion-outrider-bikes/#findComment-4978901 Share on other sites

rendingon1+
Extremely easy to convert (mk4). Shave away mk7 kneecaps and cut out mk4 ones out of plasticard. Brother Pheidias
Extremely easy to convert (mk4). Shave away mk7 kneecaps and cut out mk4 ones out of plasticard. Even just trimming the Mk. VII can be enough, and Mk. VII kneepads are basically indistinguishable from Mk. V. ShadowCore67
I wouldn't nitpick just off the basis of I understand not wanting to spend the money on the bikes. I, however, have decided to invest in them for my ravenwing... carlisimo
That’s great! The chunkier style fits the DG pretty well compared to FW’s Outriders. Those look like Kromlech legs. How’d you do the hands? Ganders
The hands were a massive pain. Left hands are just mark III bolter arms snipped and turned. Right arms are a hybrid of mark III arms and the original biker hands. Zopha
Thank you! I'm planning to make up some attack bikes and land speeders but I've been concerned about those damn legs. I've ordered a few sets from Kromlech that will work out much better than trying to make my own.
