Well a general GK unit could use it  to cast Smite and the GK power they know.

But that's so situational as to be nearly useless.

As I said, it will be a mortal wound in exchange for 1 CP. Doubtfull exchange, IMO.

Unless you're facing daemons, then its worth a thought.

Even in Narrative, a given Psyker cannot attempt to manifest the same power more than once.

That is the point. A strike squad with hammerhand will cast hammerhand and a smite for 1 CP.

In narrative all our units would be casting purge soul / vortex every round as thier one cast.

One of my mates complains that I like matched play to much and wants to play more narrative. I want to show him why it is a bad idea.

The plan is:

1. Take battalion for 6 CP (and 1-2 Vanguards depending on pts).

2. Give very single unit vortex.

3. Take everything to reserves except something like dreadnought (leave it as an anchor on the backfield).

4. Everything turn 1 and cast Vortex+Psychic communion.

Playing without Matched Play restrictions would make GK a very powerful but very boring army. Deepstrike+Vortex would be GK auto-choice list.
