SITZKRIEG!
Hey folks, I just purchased a Redblade model from Deathwatch Overkill/Killteam Cassius to hopefully use in an RPG in the future. I've seen him described as a Blood Claw and I was curious if those who are more knowledgeable about Space Wolf iconography see any Blood Claw specific markings. I'm not a fan of the 80's hair metal mohawk and wanted to swap out his head when I get him for something a bit more respectable and fitting of a Grey Hunter but wasn't sure if other markings will mess with that on the model. Thanks in advance. Here's a pic of the model and a link to the GW page where they have the 360 rotating view of Redblade. Thanks in advance for any help with the fluff/icons. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Deathwatch-Overkill-EN Edited January 10, 2018 by SITZKRIEG! codyrstuart
The left kneepad is the only thing I see that would denote him as a blood claw (red and yellow). If you wanted him to be from another unit, you could just paint the kneepad a different color (red and black for Grey Hunter, yellow and black for Wolf Guard, white and black for Long Fang, grey and black for Wolf Scout). GalaxyChief
His left knee pad is a pack marking for blood claws. Red/Yellow Grey Hunters are Red/Black Wolf Guard are Yellow/Black Long Fangs are White/Black SITZKRIEG! 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343202-question-about-space-wolf-redblade-iconography/#findComment-4979068 Share on other sites
SITZKRIEG!
Cool, thanks for the quick replies! So if I just paint that in the Grey hunter Red/Black scheme then it'll be a grey hunter? I knew there were different markings for shoulder pads and knees as well as colors for the various power armor models but I don't currently have any SW codex newer than 2nd edition, lol. I sold all mine during the dark days of 6th/7th. GalaxyChief
You could just as easily have the pack markings on his weapons. There really is no uniform place a Son of Russ needs to wear his pack markings. codyrstuart
Correct. Like Chief said, you could paint it anywhere, but it may be easier on the knee since the pattern is already sculpted IIRC. Wispy
I painted the right shoulder red and grey as an honour marking and used the knee for a pack marking.
