Hey everyone,

So I am currently building a pure primaris celestial lions army as a slow grow. Now I think I'm going to keep going with this army past the 2000 point mark after the grow ends and was thinking of building them into a full company. Issue is there was less than a company left of Celestial lions before the Primaris came to be. In 998m41 there were less than 96 lions remaining, I know a bit of time has passes since then but what would be a reasonable number of non primaris lions to exist? And also how many Primaris are being given out? I'm thinking realistically with primaris reinforcements their numbers would be around the 300 mark, how would they be organized company wise?

I know there is no real answer to these questions just wanting opinions from people with greater fluff knowledge then me

I think Guilliman was giving out as many Primaris as the Chapter's needed considering he also had enough of them to create new chapters. So unless its been said otherwise elsewhere I assume that the Lions are now at full strength with their numbers being mostly Primaris. As for non-Primaris I think 100 years is enough time to get a company of them ready to go, so maybe the Lions do have 1 or 2 companies of non-primaris.

Both really. There are full Primaris chapters, but he also gave enough to bolster under strength chapters. For my crimson fists I’m running a full company of Primaris. No reason you can’t do a mainly Primaris chapter with a company of tacticals. Just make them 1st company ;)

One thing to consider is that the Lions were targeted for extermination by someone in the Inquisition during the 3rd War for Armageddon. So it's possible that the Lions might have had trouble rebuilding or even obtaining primaris marines since that time. Something to consider if you want for fluff or army building purposes. You could work that into building your force a certain way.
