Diogenes, my favorite of the cynics, once met Alexander the Great. He was picking amongst a pile of bones by the side of the road with great interest. When Alexander asked Diogenes what he was doing, Diogenes replied, "I am searching for the bones of you father, but cannot distinguish them from those of a slave."

 

Solid stuff in the sub-plot thus far, lads!

Diogenes would also reportedly patrol the streets of Athens with a lit lantern during the daytime, and when asked why he would respond "I am searching for an honest man." What a bell end. I love him.

I want post an update with Pallan's views but he is with Blackthorn and I don't want to break the neat flow Swordhand has going. Pity we couldn't tackle it over two threads for now, but how would you merge when the reams work together later?

I would say post, and don't worry about it. I did consider two threads, but as you say that has its own attendant issues.
