lonewolf81
Hello, this may sound stupid, but can a wolfpriest heal himself? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343430-can-a-wolf-priest-heal-himself/ Share on other sites
Arentius
He is an infantry / biker unit within an inch of himself so yes :) bubbles apply to anything that meets the criteria. The only time an aura won't apply is if it specifically excludes the one supplying it ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343430-can-a-wolf-priest-heal-himself/#findComment-4984889 Share on other sites

Yoyo ninja
I'm just trying to put together a list with a heavy combat element, and for me the Wolf Priest out weighs the Wolf Lord. Re-roll melee to hits, heal wounds and better leadership for all makes him a great choice. The only things the Wolf Lord has over him is a TW mount and access to different melee weapons. But its just horses for courses really. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343430-can-a-wolf-priest-heal-himself/#findComment-4985528 Share on other sites
Arentius
I always have a wolf priest for my wulfen (I have them all with hammers so it’s needed) But I also have one on a bike for my thunderwolf cavalry. sharing their leadership is quite useful. Yoyo ninja
Im going with jump pack to keep up with Wulfen and TWC. Mainly for points efficiency. Does the bike make much difference? Is it worth the extra cost? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343430-can-a-wolf-priest-heal-himself/#findComment-4985623 Share on other sites
Gherrick
Im going with jump pack to keep up with Wulfen and TWC. Mainly for points efficiency. Does the bike make much difference? Is it worth the extra cost? I typically use a jump pack over bike for WP primarily to keep the INFANTRY keyword. A bike does add +1W and +1T, so it can definitely be worth it depending on mobility needs (wulfen may need to enter/cross ruins, where non-infantry cannot easily tread). Yoyo ninja
Yea, that makes sense. The +1 T and W are kinda meaningless when surrounded by 10 Wulfen and 6 TWC ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343430-can-a-wolf-priest-heal-himself/#findComment-4985871 Share on other sites
Arentius
The reason I take two is cause I throw them at different things, while also giving me a few shots to throw as I go in, it's not much but hey every little helps. Plus having him on a bike stops him being murdered by vindicares as he's no longer infantry (no more auto wounding on 2's) That said this is highly dependent on your local meta...for me it tends to be a problem so I guess YMMV? lonewolf81
For me wolf priest with jump pack makes a great combo with 7xwulfen (4xhammers/shields, 1xclaws,1x axe, 1xleader/claws) deployed with the new stratagem along with 7-8 jump packed wolf guard all with stormbolters, 3-4 storm shields and 3-4 powerfists / thunderhammers. In that way you get a heavy hitting distraction force which is also durable with reroll charges and hits. The uses I have found for Wolf Priest. 1. Stormclaw Attack bikes. 4 Wounds models, sit Lukas next to them and they hit on 3+ too... 2. Lone Wolf's - Teleport in 2 Lone Wolfs and a Wolf Priest. 3. Outflanking Wulfen - Have yet to try this but when Wulfen outflank, I generally support them with Harald Deathwolf but I am also thinking of Teleporting a Wolf Priest next to the unit they're going to charge for rerolls in the fight phase. I think it boils down to the following 3 questions. 1. Is the character buffing a unit that will be primarily in close combat? 2. Is the character buffing a unit of multiwound models? 3. Are there likely to be other characters around who might need to be healed? If the answers to 2 or more of those questions are "yes" then there is a good case for a Wolf Priest. If only 1 is "yes" then it is situational. If you answered "no" to all of them then a WL or WGBL will likely serve you better.
