In preparation for their imminent release (and some sweet looking new minis), for a laugh I had a casual 2K match last night versus nids.  But used my GKT as Custodian Guard.

My list was;

Bobby G

GMNDK

GMNDK

Doomglaive

Doomgliave

5 x AC, Spears

5 x AC, Spears

5 x AC, Spears

It was a super casual match, we wanted to see Bobby G and the Swarmlord go toe to toe, so made that happen with no interruptions.

Until the Nid player caved, and gave Swarmy two outside psychic power buffs.

Bobby still won, leaving the combat with 5 wounds remaining.

My thoughts.

I missed the denies.  Just didn't have enough.

I lost the game, but it was very close.  Was the new CA mission with 4 objectives, with your opponents scoring 4VP.  While the AC were very killy and durable (game ended with one AC squad still untouched) I just didn't have enough board presence or mobility to compete on 4 objectives.

Plus a Tervigon spawning 50 extra gaunts for free is :cuss.

The AC feel like a nice fit with GK.  With an increase to BS2 across the board, they feel just as good shooting and in CC as the GK.  But more durable.  Mobility coming from bikes will be amazing as well.

The minimum squad sizes of 1 should be good for Detachments and CP generation.  I can definitely see some combination of AC vanguard / Outrider detachments with GK Supreme Command for Voldus (DENIES!!) and GMNDK.

I'm excited for the Codex release, and the potential it can bring. :)
