infyrana
I'm starting to look at paint schemes for my Deathwatch models and wanted to know if anyone has used other colours besides Red to trim their DW bolters, cloaks and stripes etc? I'm toying between something dull and boring (grey) or the opposite like a toxic green (if I can work find the right colours and make it happen with an airbrush). If you've seen or have something that's very different to the norm, please post away! LordCommanderSamirus
I've seen blue on at least one Deathwatch army. Can't remember where though. Major_Gilbear
Classic =][= colours are usually black, red, white, silver, and gold. That's why most of the official studio schemes for SoB, GK, and DW schemes also mirror these colours, as they often work closely with the Inquisition. That said, there is no reason you can't do something different. Not to mention that in the same way that regular SM chapters sometimes make use of camo schemes, I imagine the DW might also make use of alternative schemes as they deem appropriate. If you want to use blue, purple, green, or whatever other colour for accents on you black and silver DW dudes, I can't see anything that says you can't. In fact, as long as they are predominantly black and have a silver left arm and shoulder pad, I doubt many people would even think twice about what army your models are. :) infyrana 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343502-deathwatch-by-a-different-shade/#findComment-4987445 Share on other sites
infyrana
I'll be keeping the black armour with silverish arm, just the cloaks, bolters and any sort of vehicle stripe I wanted to do differently. Xisor
I went black in the bolters, but used the same highlights (grey/white edging on black) as on the armour. It's plainer, and not as striking As the red - though I couldn't face red for a Spec Ops unit, but works pretty well. I'm sure a grey with plenty of Nuln oil on for the guns would work well too. Possibly better, now I think about it. Here's A whole thread of them. Lexicanum
In order to stand out from the typical red accents on bolters, I tried out a blue. Here's an example: infyrana, Drizzt79 and robofish7591 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343502-deathwatch-by-a-different-shade/#findComment-5001927 Share on other sites
infyrana
Thanks for that! It makes for a very vibrant contrast - I'm so used to looking at pictures of 30k DG that anything without weathering is rather odd... but it's so clean it actually looks quite smart. Ania Redfang
Someone on here had a really striking DW army where the chapter colour from each shoulder pad was brought down onto the weapon casings, looks really snazzy but I can't remember who it was...
