Wolf Lord Loki
Title says it all really. What do you do with them? They dont really have strength or toughness worth a damn, They have a few wounds and attacks. Do you use them as objective campers or overwatch soak ups? Given my main opponents are marines and primaris what would be valid targets for nurgling love?!? Arachnofiend
The main reason you want to take Nurglings is the Mischief Makers ability; controlling space is huge in 8th and nurglings are one of the best at it, allowing you to take up huge swathes of the board before the game even begins. Panzer
Yeah spending a few points to have units basically everywhere on the table is bound to give you some return during the game. Even if the opponent just kills them it's already worth it. ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343546-nurglings-and-what-to-do-with-them/#findComment-4988327 Share on other sites
Shockmaster
I use mine mainly to screw with my opponents nasty alpha strike plans. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343546-nurglings-and-what-to-do-with-them/#findComment-4988359 Share on other sites
Halandaar
Use them to contest multiple objectives from the word go, or block enemy deep strikes by ensuring the only place 9" away from on of your units is his own deployment zone. bozo69pd
Besides infiltration and objectives they are also fairly good at soaking up bolter fire. radionausea
Objectives, board control, and they weirdly don't seem to die despite being toughness 2 because no one wants to waste multi-wound weapons on them so they still get disgustingly resilient rolls. DuskRaider
Their infiltrate ability is worth it's weight in gold... or points. You not only deny deep strike zones for the enemy, but you have the chance to slow down an enemy advance which is especially valuable against assault armies. Last game I used them in they only managed to kill a single Termagant, but held up two full units worth of them for two turns which gave my other units time to get there and wipe them out as well as maneuver to counteract the coming horde. radionausea
Another thing they can do is delay knights, as they can withdraw over over infantry without penalty but Nurglings aren't infantry, they're swarms. Warpmiss
How many Nurglings would be needed for these tactics to be effective? It ofc depends on the points being played but I'm thinking of games of 1k, 2k or at most 3k pts. Newtoncain
I use 3 x 3 + 2 Mal Casters for 1 battalion @ 382pts for 3CP and 3 groups all setting up 1st 9" from my opponents deployment zone.
